There was a discussion on this many years ago, but it got a bit sidelined into talk of abandonware amongst other things.
I've always wanted to find a way into the ScummVM way of working, and given Xentax seems to have some pointers towards the data structures that are used, this looks like it could bear fruit. However, the whole concept of working out how an EXE operates is difficult to get my head round, and I don't have the youth or the time to do this through a Google Summer of Code project. Aside from the wiki, are there any pointers you'd give to a competent programmer wanting to dip their toes in?
For the 7th Level specifics, I know the Complete Waste of Time is basically a living book, with some adventure game mechanics in the Holy Grail, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't heavily hard coded.
