start Trek 25th Anniversary game engine question

Post by ubza_1234 »

her there guys! brand new here! looks like a great community!

how I'm posting this in the right place :O

anyway I was just playing Star Trek 25th Anniversary, and thought, especially because of the time it was made, thought the space fighting graphics were quite well done. i was looking at things like the planets, and wondered if it used some kind of scaler to blow up the image or if it's rendered from code instead of from an image file or what.

the enemy ships appear to use multi angle sprites, similar to doom or wolfenstien.

i was just playing and got curious about how things were coded. i can't seem to find anything anywhere on this engine other than the was going to be a remake or something of the engine many moons ago.

anyone got any info on the engine?

cheers

I have no details on the shooter section (which IMO is far less interesting than the adventure segments).

i agree, but i can get my head around how that works, it's the mapping and the rendering of the star fights that i don't 100% get, especially for the computers it was designed to run on.

I'll give it a read :-) thanks
