About Kyrandia and SCUMM

Post by cyborgjeff » Thu Mar 06, 2014 12:17 pm

Hi, i'm writing an article about Legend of Kyrandia for Be-Games and there is a fact i would like to be sure.

Is Kyrandia was written around SCUMM from the original LucasArts (may be the have paid to work with it). Or is the "SCUMM" proposed now that have been addapted to be able to work with Kyrandia series ?

Thanks for your informations.

Nope. Completely different engine, no relations at all.

ScummVM has grown to be more than just a reimplementation of SCUMM; it's now a collection of several dozens of engines, all different and unrelated to the original SCUMM by LucasArts.
The glue that holds them together in ScummVM is common code for graphics output, mouse/keyboard input, sound processing and the like, but each engine does their own game logic and script handling.
