Is the freeware release of Discworld no longer feasible?

Is it pretty much out of the question that Discworld I or II will be legally released as freeware?

There was quite a bit of chatter about this back in the day, but a quick search does not reveal any relevant, recent thread, so I thought I would ask anew.

I've just coaxed it into running on Windows XP SP3 after an IDAFree debugging session and using OllyDBG to hack a jle to jmp. I'd be really, really interested in the details of how you did all this. Did you follow a tutorial of some sort somewhere? Next trick is 'Amber - Journeys Beyond'. Are you a...

Just out of curiosity, whatever happened to this?

I reckon there might be some people out there crazy enough to do an English voice track if the necessary format information was available.

It's on Direct2Drive, too.

Now to wait for it to go on sale. It is only a matter of time.

I was thinking about these again recently. I've been wondering: even if a lot of the game logic is hard-coded into the executable, there is libx86 that could, in theory, be used to run bits of machine code, right? Or would something approaching emulation be, by its very nature, beyond the scope of S...

Re: Manic Mansion Deluxe FREEWARE now

Now that LucasArts released Manic Mansion Deluxe as freeware, will ScummVM host a ScummVM-friendly download just as they did for Beneath A Steel Sky & Flight Of The Amazon Books? To be precise: -Maniac Mansion Deluxe has always been freeware. -Lucasarts did not make Maniac Mansion Deluxe. -Mani...

But there are already projects that offer HyperCard compatibility, no? Trying to reimplement HyperTalk in all its glory seems rather beyond the scope of ScummVM, certainly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HyperCard By the way, just a few months ago there was an update to the Executor source code (which...

- Mac version from 1988 This can be tough to pull off. You will need a classic Mac (68000 processor) emulator. The Wiki page of Mac OS mentions emulators (vMac, Basilisk II, and Executor) but even they have fallen into obscurity now. None of their websites seem to be updated much in a long while. T...
