. For instance, it is famous for not being able to produce a convincing piano sound. It played the best piano of any Sound Card available in 1988 :wink: and walked all over Sound Blaster. Have you ever listened to SQ4 on a MT-32? All the sound effects you hear on the Sound Blaster version are recor...

That is interesting! As long as the MT-32 plays some sound, im cool. But to hear no sound at all like in Monkey Island 2 was quite a surprise to me... I am not sure why they didn't add more sound effects. Especially as the MT-32 allows custom patches and can produce sounds only limited by your imagi...

Which Lucasarts Adventure games support Mixed Adlib mode?

I am wondering which games benefit from using the Mixed Adlib mode? So far I know that Monkey Island 1 and 2 have missing sound effects when played on a MT-32. But what about the other games? Fate of Atlantis seems to have speech and sound effects played through Sound Blaster out of the box. But the...

The "cheat" I mentioned before is that for some other sound effects (Largo's yelps of pain, for instance) the scripts check if the soundcard variable is 5 (not sure what that means) before playing them. In those cases, whatever value the variable actually has ScummVM pretends that it is 5...

This is the actual part of the script in question: [0012] (48) if (VAR_SOUNDCARD == 3) { [0019] (1C) startSound(11); [001B] (**) } Trying in DOSBox, this...

Fully aware that the MT-32 has missing sounds. My question was specifically for this one room with the barkeeper spitting noise... So you are saying that the real DOS version, not playing the spitting sound in Sound Blaster mode, is a scripting bug? Or did someone at ScummVM simply go "Hey let'...

Yea that conclusion would make a lot of sense...

I was really surprised when I heard that spitting sound, because I am really familiar with this game and no version I played before had that sound!

Re: How to create a ScummVM LiveCD/BootCD/USBBoot?

I was wondering, though, how easy or difficult it would be to create a similar/identical thing but with a more up-to-date build? Considering however that I'm mainly a Windows user and have barely dabbled in any Linux wizardry, I'm not rating my chances highly. Be sure to check out BartPE, which all...

Mixed Adlib in MI2 - Did someone script extra sound effects?

Ok this isn't a question about how to use mixed adlib or what it does. It is a very specific question, likely for the people that worked on the ScummVM implemention of MI2... The scene in question is the bar with the barkeeper cleaning a mug, there is a piano with a metronom on top of it... Now the ...
