I see. From what I read in the commits, there seemed to be a lot in the game that is hardcoded, so I can see how it could be an intimidating and time-consuming process. I hope work will resume on The Last Express and Sanitarium. It makes me wish I was a better programmer.

Is it normal for there to be long stretches without music? I've played through Chapter 1, and the only time I've heard music are during the video sequences and when walking near the guitar player in Marienplatz.

Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within music

I just bought Gabriel Knight 2 off gog.com, and I'm playing through it for the first time. I'm a little confused about what the best music settings are. Currently I have it set to MT-32 for music (I have MT-32 ROM dumps and use a MUNT-enabled build of DosBox that I've used successfully with many oth...

I for one am glad this has been fixed, as it's been something I've dealt with for years. But for anyone who's still using an older version of ScummVM for whatever reason, the way I got around this was to Alt-Tab to the game twice in a row, then play could resume.

The Eye of the Beholder games use the KYRA engine, right? Do you think it would be good to give the KYRA games their own category now in the compatibility list? I think we have six of them now!

The best way to learn about updates is to monitor the ChangeLog https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/commits , which is linked through the Daily Snapshots section from the main menu. Look for anything that begins with 'SCUMM' for any updates that may apply. It is fairly technical, though.

And third. I'm currently playing through Grim Fandango for the first time, and I'm sorry I never took the time to do so sooner.

I'm actually old enough to remember that Maniac Mansion box in stores. I think it was about the time that King's Quest 3 and Space Quest 1 came out, but I could be wrong.

I kind of feel the absence of Grim Fandango, since Escape from Monkey Island is in the picture.

I figured it out, and it seemed to be a matter of the interface getting in the way. I was trying to show a note to a character talking on a telephone, but the game thought I was trying to use the note on the telephone instead.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll do that next time.

Need hints for Grim Fandango

I'm playing through Grim Fandango for the first time, and I've having trouble figuring out how to win the cat races. I've already figured out that I need to pick Tuesday on the second week, but I don't know how to figure out which race is the right one without using trial-and-error. Could someone po...

That's kind of a drag. I've reached the point that I would never want to play a Scumm game outside of ScummVM. But I did some looking around, and it seems people who really want to extract the data can figure out how to do so elsewhere. I'm just glad I have my old disks/CD's. And I guess it's been t...
