The graphical 'backend' is certainly one area where ResidualVM could use a little bit of work, but the difficulty would be designing such an interface that is flexible to handle the requirements of the different engines. I did a bit of fiddling a few months back and found that short of the very crud...

Please don't cut out half of the things I said. I actually said that there should be a guideline about enhancements in general and we also shouldn't just make changes without any proper discussion. IMO, they're separate issues - 'There's no guidelines, so we can't change the default since it doesn'...

I have a problem with just changing the default, because a few people complain. *cough* No double standards please. I seem to recall it being argued that the console only had a few complaints too, and technically the current default is show console. First of all, I was talking about the internal di...

[...] didn't know what he was doing The obvious thing here would be to read the README, but that doesn't mention it anywhere. Nor does the wiki or the command-line help. Even as an engine dev, that would be the most I'd do for research within an engine I'm not familiar with. A lot of this debate wo...

I'm curious as to whether something in Dosbox doesn't play fairly either since I had issues with both T7G and 11H in there at one point too. Also, turns out my memory was a little rusty. T7G house-movement videos are 8fps (which really is a little slow) while cinematics are at 15fps which feel simil...

That was definitely the case in 11th Hour anyway. You could walk around at an insane speed in that game if you had a fast PC. The DirectX beta versions? From memory both of those showed that behaviour, though it's definitely not intended since there's a framerate flag in each resource file. Can't r...

I thought it was worth it
Personally, I thought it was a tad short for the money, but then again, I'd just come off of Aquaria which was (at least for me) nearly 30 hours worth of 2D (all four-)sidescroll gameplay :D

Nice - I found the CD loading in the disassembly a while back (at least for the win32 exe, it checks all drive letters C through Z) but it never actually clicked that the game was capable for that :)

For the most part they're pretty accurate but I guess the ambiguity comes in with what isn't said as opposed to what is. For example, with the Groovie engine the wiki doesn't mention that the engines are the same for the later games (just that there are two main versions) ;)

as the games you listed are not listed anywhere in development I'm staying out of the debate on how the forums are run (as my post count should show - 4 posts in 15 months?), but for future reference Clandestiny, TLC and 11H all use identical engines (or at most very minor differences), so they're ...

I've completed The 7th Guest . The only puzzle I skipped was the microscope puzzle (which I've never been able to win in my life). The game works great. I've reported two bugs The savegame names should be fixed now. I'm yet to look at the music issue but doubt it will be quite so easy. I checked it...
