I'm using Windows XP, version 1.2.1, and this is the first game I've tried for ScummVM. There are freeware games you can try out on the ScummVM downloads page like Flight of the Amazon Queen. I didn't use compressed data files. Would it work better if I did by any chance? No, I think it could only ...

Maybe.

What is your platform (Windows?)?
What version of ScummVM are you using?
Does the problem occur in any other games?

Haven't updated in a while, but that doesn't mean I stopped working. Here is a problem I ran into while doing monster graphics code; Diablo does this characteristic 'selection halo' when you mouse-over monsters and items. It's a one-pixel border around the texture in a bright color (as seen on the l...

it does say it has a lot of scummvm code in so you could be right about developers working on that too. why did they abandon it? too much work? not realistically possible? It's not abandoned afaik, its just slow. You can actually play the first bit of GF so all the basic stuff is in working conditi...

I would guess you do not have the right audio package installed for your sound mixer. Find out if you are using only ALSA or Pulseaudio. If you have Pulseaudio then you should see it in the process list. Fire up your package manager and install the libSDL ALSA package or the libSDL Pulseaudio packag...

Is there no workaround? If you take the ScummVM daily snapshot from the downloads page (and not the stable release) you will have the option of using the OpenGL grfx filter. While using that you can drag the game window to any size. It's not exactly 'full-screen', but you can make it 'screen-fillin...

The user would still need to rip and manage the game files himself because of legal issues though.

You call that DLL-Hell I believe. Hasn't happened to me lately but it used to be really unfunny with some early non backwards-compatible versions of DirectX.

Hehe awesome, maybe you can add some extra interactivity to some games to go with this new control scheme.
The musical duel scene from MI3 can totally be made playable air-guitar style!

@Red_Breast: Ssst! You are supposed to play along.

Just like Myst, you should be able to get the games made for Win3.x working by installing Win3.x inside DosBox.

For some games you have to use the game's original menu and not the ScummVM menu to save/load.

So try F1 or Esc or something.
