if you've copied all the files to one folder you may have overwritten one of the voicefiles. have you tried renaming them to voices1.wav and voices2.wav? there are two I think. you could also try to compress them to mp3/flac/ogg.
conversion of the videofiles to *.DXA is also requiered I believe.

the sourcecode for Discworld is not freely distributed, so it's not entirly surprising that a google-search turned up nothing.
and I think it's more likely that ppl are being really slow than that the sourcecode is lost. there are propaly more than a few copies.

ScummVM supports mp3, ogg vorbis and flac, you can choose which you want to use by specifing parameters before conversion and installing the respective encoder. check the readme or look through this thread.
