I completely miss read this and thought he was trying the game in scummvm 1.0 (and thought there was some sort of support...

If you read Retardead first post it says he has looked through walkthoughs already. When I first played the game, I found walkthroughs not that clear for this bit as well.

I would be very interested in helping, but I know next to nothing about Reverse engineering. I have a limited knowledge of various programing languages

I'm sure this has been discussed before, I seem to remember someone saying this would encourage warez. As alot of the games downloads come in some sort of compressed format i.e. zip or rar.

Although I do agreen this would be a good feature for mobile devices

well it could still be data corruption as md5 has suggested. So if you have the original, you could always try re-copying the game to the hard drive.
