Re: Before the Dark Crystal 2 (AGS)

Thank you both. Adding translation=english to my configuration file did the trick.

The .tra file is in the same directory as all the other game files, so it is kind of strange that it is not detected for display in the GUI menu.

Before the Dark Crystal 2 (AGS)

Has anyone tried testing the AGS game "Before the Dark Crystal 2" with a daily build? It detects and launches with no problems, but the language appears to be stuck on the original French. When I look in the GUI based game settings, under Engine there is a language box, but it is set to &q...

Re: Better Music for GM ScummVM (and DOSBox) games

My web browser is not letting me visit the FatBoy website because of an expired certificate. Hope everything is alright and it will be back online soon?

Re: Small text in fullscreen GUI (macOS)

Yes and no. We added HiDPI screen support for ScummVM recently, but there is currently some assumptions that are made on the screen scaling factor that are incorrect. This is something I am planning to look at soon. I have been doing some play-testing with AGD games using the latest daily builds fo...

That is great news! Sounds like an important building block for future progress.

OpenGL with shaders - more info?

I have been testing out the daily builds and was excited to see an option for "OpenGL with shaders" in the Game 3D Renderer menu. Is there any information available on exactly what this function provides and how to test it out? I was wondering if it will have any applicability to 2D games ...

Small text in fullscreen GUI (macOS)

In the latest nightly builds for version 2.3, the GUI text on a 'retina' display (in this case 5120x2880) when using OpenGL is very small. This is under Mojave.

Is this the current expected behavior in the daily builds?

Beneath a Steel Sky with the enhanced soundtrack, also working well.

These screen caps can't really do the shader justice, as it is designed for 4k+ with halation effects etc. that cannot show up in a static image (CRT fake-lottes tweaked).

Re: Any update on shaders?

Out of desperation ... ScummVM 2.1 running in Windows 98 SE in a self-patched DOSBox SVN with a 384MB RAM limit, 8GB+ image sizes and MT-32 support, built for macOS. At least I can now use my favorite CRT DOSBox shaders.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/mp936ts5eu26r8h/monkey.png?dl=0 Incidental...

Re: Sierra Mac issues

Not sure if this is a bug or issue with my files. The Mac version of Quest for Glory 1 VGA works in ScummVM v1.9.0.2, but it crashes on startup in any release I've tried since. The only error I see is in the console, it says "Could not open Data1 for reading!" Also, Aspect Ratio Correctio...

Re: Macintosh music in SCI games

There's a new branch at https://github.com/waltervn/scummvm/tree/sci_sound_amigamac Testing is appreciated for Amiga (SCI0 and SCI1) and Mac (SCI1). SCI0 Mac sound is also supported, but unfortunately these games are not yet playable in ScummVM. Thanks for this. I notice these improvements made the...

Re: Any update on shaders?

Plus, there are many conflicting views about CRT shaders. It would have to be a big decision between key devs in the team. Appreciating the amount of hard work and testing that has to go into adding new features, if it does happen, I think giving users more choices is the key here. There are comple...

Re: Any update on shaders?

Wow Almeath how did you get a shader running on ScummVM? I'm not a programmer and have no idea on how to do compiling. Getting a CRT shader working on Scummvm has been a dream of mine for a long time. I've even kept a classic 1600x1200 monitor at hand at all times to be able to play classic games o...

Re: Any update on shaders?

I have been testing this further, and my conclusion is that the differing results I am seeing between ScummVM (braindx CRT fork) and DOSBox SVN (using the tweaked lottes shader) is most likely due to differences in how DOSBox and ScummVM handle scaling. For example, in DOSBox SVN I can get the CRT l...
