About 2-3 years ago I contacted Housemarque about the source code. They have it, they would be willing to give it to ScummVM devs but they'd have to look for the code on their backup media which of course would need someone of their staff to do. Sadly they were not willing to do that (which is under...

Yes, the size difference is due to the "noise" introduced by the Lanczos scaling. E.g. the DXA method 13 compresses a 4x4 pixel block which has only one color as 1 byte, while a block with too many colors may use up to 16 bytes, which is probably the case here. Also, the encoder relies on ...

Nope, read sev's reply again. ScummVM DXA is almost completely different from the original DXA, it does not use PNG internally. PNG is only used to transport data from the Smacker tool to the DXA tool. It could also have used PCX etc. but since PNG compresses better I chose it since it needs less te...

I've been looking into supporting the Access games recently (Amazon, Martian Memorandum, Noctropolis). Countdown uses LZW as compression method, as do all other adventures from Access. The logic in Countdown is indeed completely hardcoded, other Access adventures after Countdown have the game logic ...

Re: Which games would you like to be supported on the future?

The Legend games can be put in two categories: 1. The "old" games like Eric the Unready, Spellcasting etc and 2. the newer games like Death Gate, Shannara etc. The games of each category use a similar framework, but sadly all game logic is hardcoded, which means reimplementing these games ...

Yes, everything is hardcoded. The games use some common framework/engine, though.

Re: 20 other games I always wondered about...

Sorting your games by company: Access Software: Amazon: Guardians Of Eden, Countdown --> very hardcoded games (a lot of stuff is hardcoded in the executable), plus they use a funky overlay manager (some version of RTLink) Small correction: No, they're not that hardcoded, and also don't use RTLink e...

Still, usually no devs will work on a game by request. We'll work on games we like to work on. I wouldn't work on a game requested 1000 times if I personally didn't like it.

It's still in the queue but it will be some while before I start actual work on it, and even longer before it appears in the ScummVM SVN.

As long as there is no Toonstruck engine in ScummVM the videos are the smallest problem :)

No, it would be equally "annoying" as with The Feeble Files.

The two other Zork games are problematic as they use 16bit color depth which is currently not supported by ScummVM.
