That's a shame that Paypal is so uncooperative. So, what will they do next? Maybe inform DOSBox as well that it's " software capable of playing a game on a 'system it was not sold for' "? Because the DOSBox project still uses Paypal as donation method. And DOSBox supports even more games t...

I don't think so. This game was designed for Windows 95/98 only, so you can't play it via DOS. Either you manage to get it running on your PC somehow or you wait until Residual is ready for playing the full game (which can take a while as it seems.)

I think it would be a good idea to ask the original craetors which language vesions can be promoted as freeware and which not. I think I've read something about that here : Legality of game localizations should be carefully investigated before making any assumptions. As John once said, some of compa...

I don't know. I just downloaded it today from the download section. The version is "ScummVM 0.9.0 (Jul 2 2006 19:27:07)". I don't know if it's the 0.9.0a version. Is that displayed as such or not?
edit: Ah, yes, that seems to be the 0.9.0a version I've downloaded.

Broken Sword 1 startup problem

Hello, I just bought me a Fujitsu Siemens Pocket LOOX N500 PocketPC to play ScummVM on it. As I tried to play Broken Sword 1 on it, I only heard the voice of the intro video but I couldn't watch the video sequence because an error about an "unrecoverable exception occurred". The crashfile ...

Yeah, I know. Sorry for jumping so fast to conclusions. Even if there would be plans for supporting it to ScummVM, I bet it wouldn't be that easy, even if you have the sourcecode from Pendulo Studios. Since 16-bit graphics don't run that well afair, maybe the game's still not ready for it. But it st...

You don't have to install the game, you just have to copy the RESOURCE folder and the COMI.LA0, COMI.LA1 and COMI.LA2 files from both CDs to a folder at your harddrive. Then you can get your game started, that's it.

Do you have any plans for supporting Runaway in a later version when you now start talking about how to convert the videos and how to support 16-bit graphics of the game? I mean, has someone already asked Pendulo Studios for the sourcecode, or what? Or is this only speculation so far? Sorry if I jum...

I don't think ScummVM really needs to support Infocom's text adventures. Frotz is quite the better software for this task. Also, there are quite a few ports of Frotz out there, e.g. here are the ports currently supported by Frotz.

The German version ist freeware? Where can i get it? Here! Have fun with that version, but one tip for you, though. Turn off the voices because it sounds AWFULL imho! I think the company who translated the game was very stingy in choosing good voice actors. Imo they sound like they are bored or und...

so far .1 releases pretty much only contained bug fixes, so don't get your hopes up too much
Yep, this is not a feature that will be added to a point release :)
But it could be added in the next point release. :)

Since now there is a dxa support for the smacker videos of Feeble Files, could it be possible to add such a support for the Broken Sword games videos also? Yes, this is planned feature, we just did not finish it for 0.9.0. Eugene Great, I hope this feature could be implemented in the 0.9.1 release....

Re: Noob guide to get the game to start..?

hehe any one who could write a noob guide on how to get the game to run? Well, that's easy: copy the files necessary for the game to a folder in your hard drive. Which files you need are mentioned here . The smacker videos can be extracted with RAD Video Tools available here and the ScummVM tools a...

The original Windows version of The Feeble Files uses Smacker for its cutscenes, which we are unable to support. There have been several messages about this on the forums, so if the documentation for encode_dxa is too cryptic, they may help. Yes, this is inconvenient, but it's the best we can do at...

Okay, okay, call it 0.10.0, then. I think you'll call a ScummVM release 1.0.0 when all the 2D Adventures available are supported and running perfectly, so you can say: "Okay, that's it! We supported all 2D adventures which were ever produced and all of them are running perfectly. We call the re...
