Yeah hardcoded stuff and japanese stuff indeed. Hmm how hard would it be for someone without knowledge to implement the game? Is it just picking up some right indexes or may the structure of the data be so different autodetecting locations would be virtually impossible.

Would it be possible to make a small program that tries to auto detect the data structure of an FM-Towns version based on the existing implementation?

Can't you borrow an FM-Towns version of the game from someone?

Ah, it seemed indeed to be the kyra.dat file. After I noticed it didnt work I tried downloading the kyra.dat from donload page but that one was no good. And I could not easily find it in CVS, erm SVN. Hint: if a game needs a dat file, please link it in the post calling for testers :) Thanks alot :) ...

Okay, that's cool

Indeed if the ini was put in the appdir and it's write protected (CD-ROM) will unable you to add / remove / change settings as the ini would be read only.

not even optionally, eh? Problem is that sometimes the Subversion I have installed parralel to scummvm original release also writes to the same ini. Oh well, I just dont see the reason why apps would put app specific stuff in the Windows dir at all. (is it removed after uninstall even?) the Windows ...

The targets would be of the **free** games Flight Of The Amazone Queen and Beneath A Steel Sky.

Even replacinf 256 colors with 16 bit offers great improvements:

do a search on scummvm.ini, often found in your windows dir. That's where the setings are kept. and check line 1.

On the record: I rather would have an config file reside in the apps folder itself.

Restauration of FREE classics

I know there are some restauration projects for voice, and music, but what about graphics? Are there graphic restauration projects? Is there a list of projects, how far they got and how far the scumm team is willing to help out? Anyone working for example of Beneath A Steel Sky or other games? [EDIT...

Some LucasArts classics considered by many as "must play": Sam & Max Hit The Road and Day Of The Tentacle.

I believe these are sold in packs now if I remember correctly.

I think we all know its work in progress and we are all just excited. Sometimes we might ask for the another feature request. But please forgive us as some of us might ask for the impossible. I don't think any questions, suggestions or discussions is there to merely annoy the developers. It's intere...

Thanks for the answers guys. No change the scummVM folder acts as default extra ? And if indeed the dat file(s) are from the executable, why don't you read the data straight from the exe (thats on the original media)? That way no extra file needs to be downloaded AND it does not need to be included ...

Extra files needed for some games...

There are some games that need an additional file to run the game with SCUMMVM and you need to download them seperate. Beneath a Steel Sky, SKY.CPT The Legend of Kyrandia, KYRA.DAT Flight of the Amazon Queen, queen.tbl I'm starting to wonder some things: - What are these files exactly - Why are thes...
