This is not so much about deaths but about dead-ends. And letting you save a broken and uncompletable state of the game completes the picture. If that is not poor game design, I don't know what is.

And saying that Syberia did not nothing short of saving the genre is nonsense.

Today we can afford to buy every single console which effectively means we should focus on content, not on fanboyism. ...looks at doomer's location. Wow, I'm moving to Bulgaria. You will be welcomed here. 8) As a matter of fact, I went holiday shopping yesterday to fulfill my ultimate console dream...

Just be happy about the game. Don't bash the high technology toys, just because you can't afford the Playstation 3, or the Xbox 360 elite, or the Nintendo Wii. Content should be king. In the past we could not afford to buy all three, so we fanboy one of them and defend it to death. Today we can affo...

Yeah.. it's not the best protection ever (wants authorization for pretty much everything you do).. but still.. it won't let every program write in /windows or /program files .. So it's at least a bit useful .. But it depends of course. ;)

Yeah, but then he exposes his system to many threats. ;) Generally not recommended. It's easy to be protected with uac, and install games in other folder than /program files. That way he can be protected, and still save normally. ;)

Here are two things you can do in vista about that problem. :) You can either right-click on scummvm shortcut, go to compatibility and tick run as administrator, or you can just install the game to another folder, different than /program files :). It's protected by default in vista, so you'd better ...

I had the same problem on Vista. But it is solved easily. Yes, you only need MSVBVM50.dll. Get it from somewhere, put it in windows/system32 directory and the games install just fine. Good luck. :)
