I just read on Mike Melanson's blog that the Smacker codec has been reverse engineered. It probably will be included in ffmpeg some day. This would solve the problems with all the videos and animations as they could be used as-is without the need of converting them.

It was made by Burst Entertainment that was a (afaik an in-house) developer for Virgin so they probably reused the code when Virgin bought Westwood or they had the rights to the source.

So far the scripts are the same like mentioned and I think the pathwalking stuff is pretty similar (I only started yesterday so I don't know that much yet :))
The game data itself is different, though, mostly the graphics and sound.

Yes, I'm playing around with it and will try to implement it when I know enough.

A little status report on Orion Burger and Toonstruck: Nick Porcino, one of the lead programmers on Orion Burger replied to my mail and told me he has the source on some backup CD. He's looking for it and will send it as soon as possible. With Toonstruck, sadly no one replied to any of my mails :( B...

The only way this could work is either 1) get the source code and make a new engine based on the AGS formats (the raw/uncompiled source files) or 2) make an interpreter for the already compiled AGS data.
Both is imo unlikely to happen.

What language is that written in? I read somewhere it was pure assembly. If it was C/C++ maybe I could have a look at it.

Is Lost In Time a different engine? Seems it's the same one. But it's also possible Coktel had a set of libraries ("programming tools") to make each one of these games. So some parts would be the same and some would be specific to each game so one would still need the source code for the ...

The DOS version I habe could use 320 or 640 resolution. There are two different EXEs for that. Dunno what the WIN version is capable of...!? Either 640x480 or 640x400, I believe. I don't remember for certain, and I don't remember if you could still use the lower resolution. I don't even remember if...

I had a closer look at Alien Incident and it looks bad without source code. It's the same problem as with Igor, i.e. all logic seems to be hardcoded. And it also was written in Borland Pascal and uses an overlay. And I also contacted Nick Porcino, the technical director of Sanctuary Woods, about the...

I've asked around for the source code to several games. I'd try to implement the game into ScummVM if I get the source to one of these games. I already got replies to some mails. The games I asked about are: Alien Incident - apparently they would give me the source and have the code somewhere around...
