To move that button, try the following: During startup of ScummVM, hit the button "Change Device Configuration". Then select the menu item "On-Screen keyboard" -> "Customize on-screen keyboard layout". Now you can drag the button to a position you like and confirm the p...

In my configuration, ScummVM shows the following for "Specify Directory": /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.scummvm.scummvm/files Maybe that will work when you try it, but I doubt so. Seems to be a different problem, but I don't have an idea what it might be. It is surprising how differ...

Weird, indeed! :) I had a look into the logcat output you provided. Seems ScummVM dies the moment it tries to access the directory /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.scummvm.scummvm/files during startup, which looks correct to me. Can you please go into the devices system preferences, apps, open S...

Thanks for the detailed description. This is interesting, as the workaround with setting browser_lastpath=/sdcard indeed works on a Nexus 5X. It has no SD card and it runs on Android 7. The directory name "/sdcard" is probably there for historic or compatibility reasons, it exists and poin...

First of all: Trying to emphasize your opinion by words like "terrible choice", "broken as hell", and "needs fixing asap" does not help. Remember this is not a commercial project and people are developing it for fun and your rude behaviour may lead to some developers st...

Workaround for Android N

This seems indeed to be related to Android N and how access to the file system is handled. Recently upgraded my Nexus N to Android N, too. Accessing files in the internal memory (AKA "internal emulated SD-CARD") is fine, just the ScummVM launcher file browser does not get the permissions t...

Recently a simple solution to your problem with the missing menu button appeared: the SDL build. It only uses the back key and has a transparent button for the keyboard in the top left of the screen.

You can find it in the Download section of the ScummVM website: http://www.scummvm.org/downloads/

The problem with touchmode is specific to some devices. In general it is running fine on Android 6, too, like on the Nexus 5X with Android 6.0.1 I have. The SDL builds can be found on the following ScummVM page -- look for Android SDL downloads: http://www.scummvm.org/downloads/ Don't know that vers...

My advice: try the SDL build. On startup there is a button on top of the screen which lets you enter the configuration. There you also have mouse emulation settings with many tweaks including a setting for "relative mode/Laptop mode", which is the touchpad mode you are looking for. Much cl...

I heard about the release of DOTT Remastered this week. DOTT is one of my favourite games and it is nice to see that those games (from mid 1990s) are still being worked on! A couple of months ago I played Grim Fandango Remastered and enjoyed it a lot, especially with the new touch screen controls. :...

Running a recent 1.8.0 snapshot on Nexus 5X with Android 6.0 (now 6.0.1) and both input modes work fine. No issues with ScummVM on that Android version. Seems to be an issue with your specific device version of the OS. Update: just tested with ScummVM latest stable buildbot build (1.8.1pre... from M...

Had a look at the thread history. Better answer now:

The standard solution is described here and is the back button:

http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=12362

Seems that Asus has messed up the back button on your device. Maybe there is a way to configure it so that it does not quit the app?

So which answers did you find and try? :) The solution is a bit hidden on the WIKI page: http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Android Look for "Drag and drop". The same works for a long click, i.e.: Double tap and hold the second tap as long as you want to push the virtual mouse button down. ...

The key for quitting mini games in Sam&Max is the Escape key, (= back key on Andoid), same for the binoculars scene.

So the back key should get you out of the binoculars before or after finding the right rock.
