1) try dosbox (or a mac version called boxer ) for running the dos games. i don't know if any of the games you're referring to are windows versions, if so that gets slightly trickier, but there are ways to do it if you have an intel mac. 2) yes, scummvm will play the pc versions of the adventure gam...

if ram and storage space aren't a concern, then the limiting factor is likely to be cpu speed. i'm sure monkey island 1 uses a fair bit more cpu power than maniac mansion, and i wouldn't be confident that the c64's old 8 bit cpu is up to the task. i expect someone else will be able to provide a more...

i'm well out of the loop with windows' "recent" (vista/7) file securities, so i can't help you there, but might you be better off setting scummvm up on a usb stick instead of a dvd, so you can run scummvm and save games all in place on that?
just a thought :)

i remember once when i played it through with the original interpreter, many years ago, i seemed to get a glitch with one of these stone locks (maybe the final one, not sure). what i thought was the correct combination didn't work, but i then methodically tried every single other combination (yeah, ...

to be fair, the description of this forum is " General chat related to ScummVM, adventure gaming, and so on." which could easily encompass grim fandango. but it's true that grim-specific issues might be better handled in a grim-specific environment - then again, this board probably gets mo...
