Idea: ScummVM+

I think this won't happen any time soon (if at all) but I just thought it would be cool, if one day in the distant future, ScummVM+ was created... that "enhanced" existing games by fixing things in them. For example, there's quite a few times in Curse of Monkey Island when a character is s...

Yep, there's no getting away from it. Residual acts very weird with my computer! I'm thinking it must be my GFX card if no-one else is having problems with Vista. What's weird is that the first time it plays after a boot, the video runs fine and then it stops responding... but the music keeps playin...

SVN problem....

Can anyone tell me the reason why Curse of Monkey Island on SVN should crash when I load a savegame? Is this happening to anyone else? Both my Stable release (0X0) and SVN (0.11.0) are using the same config file, but that shouldn't cause it to crash when loading savegames, should it? Even when I sav...

Thanks for the replies.

Raina: Yes, Grim.exe does work under Vista, but only in Software mode :( In hardware Manny is invisible most of the time.

Zoppologo: I've tried that in Residual, I wonder why it worked for you and not for me? Strange :( Hmmmm. I wondering if it's my NVidia 8800 gfx card?

Could ScummVM be altered to allow the usage of these vastly improved videos? Could that be possible? (In the same way it supports .OGG for audio.)

I did have a previous version of ScummVM on my system, left over from a previous installation of XP (on a completely different physical drive). When I loaded up OXO, I needed to re-create all of the game paths... ie. there was no existing configuration appeared to be found. To answer your final ques...

? It's hardly a sledgehammer. Virtualization means that all those naughty programs that liked writing to the Program Files and Windows directories can still work, while maintaining system security and stability. Try reading this: http://arstechnica.com/reviews/os/vista-under-the-hood.ars Anyhoo, it'...

But of course Vista doesn't allow files to be written to in the Program Files or Windows directory, it just tells the program it has done it, and stores the files elsewhere. I wonder if that's what happened here?

Also, "echo %APPDIR%" literally outputs %APPDIR% in Vista...?

Your best bet is a little program called ISOBUSTER (Google it). It is designed to read knackered discs by any means possible and it works! It was the only way I was able to play Broken Sword 1.

Residual / Grim Fandango on Vista

Hi there, I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm trying to run Residual on Vista. I can watch the opening sequence video, but if I try to skip it or even if I just wait until it ends, Residual freezes before it reaches the actual bit where I'm in control. Here's the error it gives: WARNING: No ...

*sob*

Well since I can only see that your interpreter (NOT emulator) allows some games to be played on different platforms, why not have a separate site for a "ScummVM+" where such features are included, and ScummVMs for different platforms are kept. Keep this site for a PC only, PC games ScummV...
