Any ideas how to speed up the game on a C64? Can you make it load faster? What I mean is: ScummVM speeds the Atari, Amiga and C64 versions, because at native speed they are quite slow. You mentioned speeding up the Amiga. What about the C64? Anything one can do? So yea, talking about a real C64, not...

Most new boards just have the header connector allowing to connect a piezo speaker. But out-of-the-box they don't come with one...

For the music, it's just 2 voice beeping. Better than PC speaker, but worse than anything else. The best music for the PC versions is with Tandy sound. It has 3 voices with noise channel. Hi! This raised my curiosity. For the old Sierra games I'm aware of playing them in Tandy mode. I also know abo...

Well at least I can't stand the MT-32 emulation. I never had any speed issues (got an AMD quad core) but the quality is simply very poor. Nothing like a real MT-32. For General MIDI there are a lot of options. Ideally a Virtual Sound Canvas which sounds just like the real thing. A X-Fi card with Sou...

I believe that both games where composed on a MT-32...

Still GM could very well be better than using MT-32 emulation?

Just a thought...

I'm pretty sure that Eco Quest and Dagger of Amon Ra support General MIDI.

So I would just go with that option instead of MT-32 emulation which doesn't sounds like the real thing anyway.

Cool!

Did some more digging and it appears that all cards from the Live! series onwards have soundfont support!

I bought a MT-32 back when KQ4 was released. So most of my nostalgic feelings go towards playing the games through it. So,for me, any game that supports the MT-32 sounds best through it. Can't really stand listening the music through anything else. And I just think it sounds the best anyway. Anythi...

You make a good point! Monkey Island 2 for example I still prefer on my Retro PC with a Sound Blaster Pro 2.0 It sounds exactly like on my very first PC with my very first Sound Blaster. It just takes you back in time and memories come back. The Roland music sounds nicer, but it just doesn't give yo...

OMG! Is that all yours? Are you using all of it? And for what? Yup all mine :D Muahahahahah Retro DOS gaming is one of my hobbies. And there are slight difference between the various Roland modules, so certain games only sound 100% authentic on a specific module... I got them from Japan a...
