You can extract the appropriate data from the game's new executable using a hex editor to recreate the missing data file.

Giving examples of what certain options do would actually go a long way towards making ScummVM more novice-friendly. But it would probably also cause some unwanted bloat.

At least I see undithered mode as some sort of enhanced EGA. Defaulting to plain EGA in that case, is like defaulting to CGA in an EGA game. I think that's a terrible analogy. These games already had both render modes available. Some people played them in CGA, some played them in EGA. In the case o...

And there-in lies the problem - some people view this as an 'improvement', while others don't. I see it exactly the other way around. The problem is that there's no "code" on how games should be represented, so whenever there's an optional feature, you end up with discussions on what the ...

IMO, whenever there's a choice (i.e. not hardcoded behavior/fixes/improvements), the default option should resemble the original game as closely as possible.

It's still a subjective "improvement", and those have traditionally been opt-in, not opt-out.

Would have, could have, should have.

IMO, ScummVM should, by default, represent games the way they did originally appear, not try to guess what they might have looked like had the circumstances been different.

Well, the problem with the voice actors seem to be an English language specific problem. It's not, it's a translation/localization problem. Despite Germany's history of dubbing media (France does the same thing, btw), German localized versions of foreign games are, without exception, worse than the...

Relative paths are fine, but make sure your save directory points somewhere that's actually writable. Example from my ini (save pointing to %temp% and a relative path to the game: [scummvm] mute=false speech_volume=192 native_mt32=false midi_gain=100 talkspeed=100 gfx_mode=3x subtitl...

For Windows, you could simply use a tool like ReNamer to batch rename your audio files to match what ScummVM expects.

Re: d'uh

BTW, one build for all games (except the two that need extra RAM) would be impossible? On a regular DS, yes. It might be possible in DSi mode (on a DSi, obviously), if someone ever figures that out. Also completely resetting from the game launcher back to the card's game launcher so I could start a...

let's not cast dispersions on Dom's ability to "get it right" because this version doesn't sound exactly like what was going through your head almost two decades ago. This. Many of us have grown up with these games, played them repeatedly and thus have our own ideas of what the characters...

Which scaler are you using? Running the game with no scaling at all could result in a resolution that's too low for some modern monitors.
