Re: Just got Space Quest Collection

Be carefull with the 'new' LSL collection because it doesn't contain all the games, and it doesn't even contain the talkie versions. You're better of getting the original LSL collection which did have the talkieversion, BUT that one is almost impossible to get.. Al Lowe has a list of various Leisur...

That's a bit harsh, because you never know if someone is willing to put time into getting the PSX version to work (it's very unlikely someone will)... Never say Never.. hehe..

Hmmm.. that's funny, because I even helped someone out (provided all the commands for the MT32) who made an MT32 emulator (Mega-Em) for the GravisUltrasound long looooong ago.. (Still have the card laying around somewhere), I'm pretty sure he didn't ask permission, and he didn't use the actual ROM. ...

If you look at the games Scummvm supports then you would already have known the answer to your question.. yes support is not restricted to pc-games only.. but ofcourse since development mostly is done on the PC the developer does need to be able to get the original gamedata on their PC's.. I see ama...

Re: Which games would you like to be supported on the future?

I'd really like to see Mission Critical supported - definitely the best non-humourous sci-fi adventure game I ever played. Unfortunately, I gather it's somewhat rare (and that's within a genre that's rare enough as it is!), so I doubt anyone else will either be inclined to work on it any time soon ...

a 5th monkey island I think would suck. MI4 was already bad enough. That's what I said. LucasArts doesn't have the staff for making a graphic adventure any more, even if they wanted to. Remember, it's not like LucasArts makes all games themselves, most StarWars games haven't been made by LucasArts ...

When I said "good font rendering" I was thinking about rendering TrueType fonts, with all that this implies. Something along the lines of the Gargoyle project, I guess, though I haven't really used that one myself yet. And ScummVM does not have any concept of cutting and pasting text, whi...

You know, that's a good point. When I play Zork I want it to look like it's 1981... The look would depend a lot on which operating system you ran the game on. For instance, the Macintosh versions of the early games could use a proportional font, instead of a mono-spaced one. There was an opcode to ...

What's next - Infocom games? The Infocom text adventures should already be pretty well supported by other interpreters. (There even was one for Emacs, though I don't know if it's still maintained.) But maybe you were thinking about their other games? Fooblitzky, the InfoComics, Quarterstaff, Corner...

They made Monkey Island games a cash cow. They will always sell in small numbers and yield steady income. This is not the right thing to do for a company. The right thing to do for a company is make money... that's it.. You forget that an adventure game these days just doesn't sell enough to propab...
