Re: Amiga style scrolling for Lucas adventures

Scrolling the whole screen was easy back in the old days, aye. But they had to scroll only parts of the screen, while another part (the verb area) stayed fixed. That's not possibly by only changing a few VGA registers -- or is it? It's been so long... Split screen with vertical scrolling works, I k...

Re: Amiga style scrolling for Lucas adventures

Eventhough, the Amiga hardware was more versatile, this kind of hardware accelerated soft-scrolling can be done with VGA graphics too (scrolling top part, fixed bottom part). Oddly enough, they didn't. They didn't do it probably because these kind of operations needed a fast CPU like the 486 while ...

Wasn't this included in last years GSoC? What happened to it? The last blog post I read about it seemed to point to a rather complete implementation. I've been working a day job nowadays and haven't put that much work into ScummVM lately. What I have done is I fixed the problems with the non-rotati...

Re: HELP: Operation Stealth - All riddles disabled !!!

When I examine the coin-return-slot I receive neither any text-message nor any other reaction of the game. So it appears as if I had not examined the coin slot at all. All the other texts (like e.g. "this is a newspaper-machine" work great. But the MAIN-texts and -reactions DON'T. This is...

That SCI wiki isn't accurate. For instance, QFG2 isn't an SCI1 game but rather a SCI01 game (along with KQ1SCI, which is also incorrectly labled as an SCI0 game). Improving the article would be a nice thing overally. It would benefit the Wikipedia and everyone reading it. At least it correctly knew...

Re: Which games would you like to be supported on the future?

Dragonsphere.
It was a solid and good fantasy adventure game by Microprose.
I've heard that the engine in it is mostly hardcoded though so the chances are pretty slim although there is some work on M4 already.
A poem creation puzzle comes especially to mind from Dragonsphere as a positive thing...

ScummVM developers already said that implementing support for Steam games is a quick fix, but they don't want to interfere with LucasArts' plans, at least for now. Since the Special Edition of Monkey Island still uses SCUMM, support shouldn't be a problem. Monkey Island SE is a different beast as i...

So the game including all game music is only 9mb? Yep. And it fits in such a small space because the original MI2's music was in MIDI-format (No samples included in MIDI, only information about which instrument to play at which time position and similar things) and intended to be played back with a...
