Peter, it sounds like you had VDMS configured to play the MIDI soundtrack. Although from your post, I presume you were not using an MT-32 synth but some default GM softsynth. Future Wars was made for MT-32, not GM. That it sounded good to you might have not been intentional ;) what's the best way to...

Misinformation at its finest. The Cold War is over, dude.

Since the Japanese version is also supported, I wonder if a PC Engine System Card ROM will be required in order to display the kanji characters? Right now, the Japanese text is totally mangled (but that might be expected at this early stage of development).

Look for the ScummVM Tools Daily Snapshot in the downloads section. The current version of the ScummVM Tools provides a tool aptly named tools_gui.exe, which I suppose is what you're after.

Just checked the wiki and wanted to clarify something. The PC Engine actually has seven channels. The extra ADPCM channel is provided by the MSM5205 processor, which is built into the CD-ROM expansion units. I'm pretty sure the missing sound effects are produced by the 12-bit ADPCM channel (doesn't ...

Fantabulous. I can't believe it actually works :)

Big props to Tobias and Kirben for their tremendous work. Is it ok to post bugs on the Bug Tracker at this stage of development?

Wow! It's been around five years since I sent my US copy to Ender. I'm sure looking forward to it. Will it also support the Japanese version? I'm also wondering about ripping the CD soundtrack. How is the track layout handled by ScummVM? The CD is a custom mixed mode, with the first track being an a...

Remember that Larry 3 is an MT-32 game and doesn't have native GM support. The GM/GS/XG versions available at Quest Studios are not simple bank remappings but hand-tweaked arranges.

I'll repeat what LogicDeluxe said already: no GS device is MT-32 compatible. Yes, the GS synths include an MT-32 sound bank, but an MT-32 expander is much more than its sample set.

I seriously doubt a barebone A1200 would be enough to run a software synth like Timidity or GMPlay in iMuse mode, plus DoTT. The CAMD solution is probably the best course of action.

If you're talking about the Masterpiece Edition (the one which was remade to look like Myst), I don't think it's supported by ScummVM.

And there is the odd case of custom mixed mode CDs like the PC Engine games, which have track 01 as an audio warning, track 02 as a data track and the rest of the tracks as audio cues (except for the last track which is usually a dupe of the second track).
