Lossless compression is great, however for something that is already heavily compressed with old codecs, it is really best to use something like OGG Vorbis instead anyway, as you will never enjoy a true lossless by converting a compressed format. If they ever re-released games with Audio CD quality ...

Thanks for the various comments in my support, but it is important to note that this is not a competition and everyone should be able to have a dabble at creating 'fan' music for games good or bad. We still have this wonderful thing in life called 'choice' :) Have a good day everyone.... hopefully w...

I have spent all yesterday converting the videos, and they work fine. The sound is a bit crackly, but easy to put up with. Great stuff from the ScummVM team yet again.

I am not even going to bother commenting on your work as I am not going down this route you have taken.

When did I ever claim I was a professional, I said I use professional equipment... why can't we both do our own work without the other person knocking the others?

Anyway moving on......

It really depends on the game..... some games sound perfectly fine using MT-32, although others could do with a little extra. Also remember MT-32 emulation is still no way near perfect and adlib is a poor substitute. Amiga music can be good, but still not up to today's standards in professional MIDI...

Filters are probably the easiest way to get a nice enhancement with little fuss. However Another World has some nicer background visuals now: http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk/?p=319

I would love to see Simon the Sorcerer with high resolution backgrounds, but hey that is extremely unlikely.

FUN ALERT! - Your Charactor/Actor Impressions

If you or someone you know can do a great impression of maybe a famous cartoon charactor, actor or celebrity, then share it with the rest of us by calling my voicemail. More information can be found here: http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk/?p=253 The best ones will feature on my future audio shows, but ...
