Now that SCI/Sierra games are supported, how did you deal with their (usually in-game) copy protections?

Changing the volume in Goblins 3 in-game
Since changing the volume from ScummVM's GUI does make a difference in this game, how come it's not possible to change it using the in-game shortcuts? It's really loud by default and it's much better to change the volume live according to your hearing.
