By default, your savegames should be somewhere in your Documents-folder, if I'm not mistaken, in a subfolder called "ResidualVM Savegames", try to move all files from that folder to your desktop, then try to start a new game. If that fixes your problem, then we can look into figuring out w...

Which way are you trying to save/load? From the launcher, or from the ingame menu that can be triggered with f1?

Does starting a new game work fine?

Does it crash if you start a new game, press f1, and then open the load/save dialogue?

Which version of ResidualVM is this?

Escape from Monkey Island isn't supported at the moment, as it is still a work in progress. Savegames in EMI may or may not work, and have no guarantee at all that they will work between versions. Make sure that you place the gfupd101.exe file itself in the game-folder, you should NOT extract it, just place it in the folder.

There is no need for an installer, or other software, as all you need is the LAB files from the cds (all the contents of the GAMEDATA-folders), and the gfupd101.exe file.

There is (disabled) code in ResidualVM that allows rendering at 1280x960, effectively doubling the resolution. This only works ok for the OpenGL-renderer, as OpenGL doesn't really have any issues with scaling, whereas the software renderer (which already is rather overworked) would have to do a lot ...
