With stereo, 8-bit, 44100 Hz and 13.33 ms you get 1176 bytes audio data + 1 byte shifting info. The 1176 is an interesting value, as one audio CD sector contains 1176*2=2352 bytes of 16-bit stereo data. It may be that the game internally uses cd-rom sector numbers or the minute:second:frame format ...

That's probably the problem, the CMS uses the SAA1099 with a non-default clock rate and thus all the frequencies differ. In fact if you check the specs for the SAA1099 chip, you will notice that they use a 8 MHz master clock for the chip. A lot of different devices just use what they already happen...

Good work! CMS sounds just like through DOSBox: Everything has a higher pitch compared to the real thing :) That's because we use the same emulator of the SAA1099 chip as DOSBox, which is from MAME AFAIK. If I am not mistaken, the CMS emulator is either coded so that assumes it is being run with a ...

Topic: ScummVM OPL emulator differs from AdPlug?

By the way, AdPlug release notes say that for LAA files the volumes are a bit off. LAA file playing is handled by mid.cpp, which is a sign that LAA files are handled or played somewhat like MID files. I do not think there is a single tool to do what you want, if AdPlug is not good for you. There are...

I have been studying a bit about the OPL and different emulators - even written an emulator of some sort myself, by reverse-engineering a real OPL3 chip with logic analyzer. My emulator aims to be very accurate compared to real chip. As far as I know, the .LAA files have some sequencing and note inf...

The sound cards today play only PCM samples or PCM audio streams. Ancient sound chips like SID (C64), Tandy, OPL2 (Adlib), CMS (some Sound Blasters) were given some parameters like frequency and volume and they generated the sound internally, perhaps directly to analog output with their internal D/A...

Apparently? How can you not know?
I have both versions and it seems it is the floppy version that I pulled out of my backup archives. There are install batch files that refer to floppy disks.

ScummVM does not say it is CD version either.

Hi friends, I did a new OPL3 emulator that I would like to share with you. I made it available at www.cozendey.com/opl3/opl3.html There there is an applet that demonstrates it, right in the page. I hope you enjoy, and have some fun with it. best wishes, hexacorde Hi! New to this forum, but I've bee...
