I may be wrong, but I think Scumm Revisited, can extract backgrounds. I'm sure you can find it on google. If not I can post a link later.

If you read Retardead first post it says he has looked through walkthoughs already. When I first played the game, I found walkthroughs not that clear for this bit as well.

I would be very interested in helping, but I know next to nothing about Reverse engineering. I have a limited knowledge of various programing languages

But on the other hand I am very eager to learn, also a very quick learner. Also this project does sound very interesting.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, I seem to remember someone saying this would encourage warez. As alot of the games downloads come in some sort of compressed format i.e. zip or rar.

Although I do agreen this would be a good feature for mobile devices

well it could still be data corruption as md5 has suggested. So if you have the original, you could always try re-copying the game to the hard drive.

Also I think the fact that the scumm games were reversed engineered should also be taken into consideration. Where as the Revolution games and some other source codes were provided. What I mean is why bother wasting time copying the save game menu when the scummvm one works just as well. Getting the...

I may be wrong be it seems to me that monkey2.001 has been corrupted, so have you tried reinstalling the game. It may be that the floppy with that file may have become corrupted. If that is the case the Cd-rom version of the game is exactly the same, and not that expensive these days.
