You may actually find it'd be easier to write a clone game that behaved as the original, rather than a true port...

Just a thought, anyhow.

If a player had both Amiga and PC versions of a game, legally, it might be theoretically possible to do, but (without wanting to sound like one of the developers) I believe the number of people that this would benefit would be very small, while the amount of time to develop, implement and test would...

It's even less exciting for me:
My old Win98 PC (which blew up last year)
My current WinXP PC

Both of which have also dual-booted various Linuxes over the last few years, including Mandrake (before it was Mandriva), Ubuntu, SuSE and Fedora, but I'd still only class it as 2...

Isn't Tuesday 1st April, not tomorrow (which will be 31st March)?

Still, embedding the FreeSCI engine will be absolutely cool, and take ScummVM to the next level. Maybe, after support has got so far, they'll replace DosBox on their compilation CDs with ScummVM... :D

I spent ages on that puzzle - they're not generally called "monkey wrenches" in England!! (Adjustable spanner is the usual term in hardware stores here)

I have to admit having played both native and with ScummVM for a while, the behaviour of COMI on all 3 of my PCs has been consistent (and fully playable), and I've never noticed anything significantly different in the way it handles on screen. In fact, it's an improvement since on my dad's PC where ...

It is possible to play mix 'n' match with Soundfonts. You could in theory build a SF based on Fluid and add in some better guitars. I think you need an SF enabled sound card to do it (not using TiMidity), and on SF cards, Creative themselves provide the software (Vienna Soundfont Studio) but I haven...

Yep, DosBox is GPL licensed - and when the news broke that id had bundled up Steam with DosBox, and not released the source, there was a frenzy of activity and mudslinging-about-to-happen on the DosBox (VOGONS) forums. Several posts and emails were sent to id, and a few days later the DosBox source ...

The problem you might get is exactly the one with id and Steam - yes, DosBox was bundled with it, but it was a patched version of DosBox which had the Steam loader attached to it. The only way I could possibly see LucasArts allowing Steam - or something like it - is by building a custom build of Scu...

If you're in the UK it can be bought from HMV (if you search on the website it's also available there - www.hmv.co.uk)

It comes in a DVD-style box though, so no idea what kind of manual (PDF perhaps?) that you'll get with it.

I did too - I actually found it in an anthology of Ellison's work. I thought I'd check it out by reading a couple of pages before buying, unfortunately I got so engrossed I actually read the whole short story in the shop  The idea of a computer holding humans captive isn't especially new but t...

In theory this should include any of the following released for Amiga where you have the ADF files and bring the files out to a ScummVM-accessible folder: Sierra AGI games The Black Cauldron Gold Rush! King's Quest I King's Quest II King's Quest III King's Quest IV Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of ...

I did actually try emailing the harlanellison.com people about buying it (as I live in England and can't readily draw US funds) but that was 3 weeks ago and I've heard nothing.

Now that Back To The Roots has resurfaced, a whole bunch of chip tunes would have been resurrected with it, some from games and some not.

The entire archive can be found at http://www.back2roots.org/ (and everything on there should be 100% legal to download, having obtained the creator's permission)

The game scripts themselves don't (and therefore neither would ScummVM) as the game itself uses dynamically changing music via iMuse. There was a CD player front-end on at least some releases of the CD version which was specific to playing those four tracks, but they're mentioned in the manual as be...
