I don't think LucasArts is one of them. They usually even encouraged playing from backup copies in their manuals. I think you misunderstand. What Raziel is talking about is getting the files to fit on the disks. For example the main resource file of a game was often broken into several smaller file...

It includes NAGI for the interpreter. You can always unpack it with something like 7-ZIP and then just play it in ScummVM for other platforms.

VFW.SOL is just the "Video for Windows" setup. You only need it if you are trying to set the game up directly in Windows, which is impossible if you are on 64-bit Windows.
