I'm still looking into this error, but without being able to reproduce it (even on a clean XP install), it's proving to be a random hardware/software bug.

Of course, what would be a better thing to do in the long run to help the general audience out - posting a detailed guide on how to extract their own 000 files out of the executables of their legitimately bought Steam downloads, or posting all the necessary 000 files online somewhere (unless spread...

I agree with fingolfin, FLAC compression normally reduces the file size about 50%, that's why I suspected the file to contain the audio as FLAC to begin with. My ripped WAV was 551Mb, so if you work on 50% file reduction, you'd end up with a FLAC size of 275.5Mb - and that's pretty damn close to the...

Judging by size the audio file could well be in FLAC format, but it's funny that they have named the file CDDA.SOU, even though it's lossless, FLAC is certainly not the same as CDDA. The file might actually contain compressed raw audio data, I do not know anything whatsoever about the Steam version ...

With this version of the game MP3 compression seems to perform better on the Dreamcast (at least for me). Having said that, 0.12.0 was the last official version I used to play the game, but I'm sure things should have improved with uncompressed files since then. I would suggest creating one CDR with...

It could well be an ASPI problem, but like I said, I have not seen that error before (I also use WinXP). Which version of BootDreams are you using?, is this file present? (I'm sure earlier versions did not have this file): C:\BootDreams\tools\wnaspi32.dll. The ASPI driver used for the latest BootDre...

I've never seen that error before, can you give more information?

What OS do you have?, What version of BootDreams?, when does the error occur (after selecting the drive)?.

Yes, I am (or at least was, I haven't touched it in some time) doing the Residual port as well. It's in the Residual SVN source tree. There is no binary distribution, because it isn't working well enough for that to be meaningful. But last time I checked it was possible to move around a little in t...

Ooooh I see, you meant burning the track as a cdda via a proggy like Bootdreams? Well I'll see if I can get my burner to use BD's "cdrecord" option as it hasn't worked for me in the past. If cdrecord doesn't work for you, here's a guide how to create a custom Loom Audio/Data CD Image usin...

Yes there is.
Have I missed something here?, are you doing the residual port too? :D

Please point me to a download if there is one.

Pardon me, but is this some special version of Loom which does not work with CD-DA? Because Loom is running fine for me when using the original CD which has CD-DA sound. It's not a special version, it's a data loading lag problem when using Loom with compressed audio. After reading your post I comp...

Did this only apply to the cdda tracks, or was it also used for say.... the Lucasart games' "monster.sou" files as well? As you say, the monster.sou file consists of lots and lots of smaller files. ScummVM only has to find where in the file the desired sound is, but that's easy: The game ...

If I brought the PC version of Curse of Monkey Island, would the game CD as it is work on the DC, via the SCUMM Boot CD? Or would I need to burn it on a new CD? COMI does play on the Dreamcast, you will have to put all the game data on one CDR but you will not be able to complete the game, when the...

There's not much you can do about the audio lag with Loom, a version of ScummVM with better seeking times might improve it slightly but the lag would still be there on the Dreamcast. This is mainly due to the audio file being one large track as opposed to a set of small tracks within a resource file...

Putting words into my mouth much, Dreamer? :P Didn't understand what you meant there until I read through my previous post. The first part of that post was going to be a reply to you but I'd previously mentioned the same thing, I deleted that part out but left the wrong quote headers in place (the ...
