The list of files needed by ScummVM are listed on the website in the documentation version. Though, it is strange that you have only one music.clu and no speech.clu. Maybe it's a special (downgraded ?) version of BS2 that ScummVM doesn't support. I guess that you should post a list of the files that...

I'm not familiar with RedHat packages. Doesn't the package manager used by Mandriva dea...

First, you should install the latest version of ScummVM (0.9.0). Do you have a real soundcard (i.e. you bought one and installed it in your PC, or choose a specific one when buying a PC) or is it integrated to the motherboard ? Do you have sound in other softwares / games (even in Windows : do you h...

My version of Broken Sword uses about 350 MB on my PC (sound files have been compressed to Ogg Vorbis).

This is the engine that runs the NES version of Maniac Mansion, not a port of ScummVM to the NES (which would be quite a difficult task to achieve).

Re: Sword2 not recognised

I own the Sold Out Software Broken Sword I + II dvd. I installed both games under WinXP and copied the game folders across to Kubuntu Dapper. Using ScummVm 0.8 under Dapper I added the folder for Sword I and it was recognised and is totally playable (I olny checked superficially, but seems fine.) H...

If there is no version matching your OS on the download page, you'll either have to build it yourself from the source (compiling) or find a compatible version (e.g. Ubuntu is based on Debian, so many Debian packages work straight ahead ; I don't know about Mandriva and RedHat packages : maybe one of...

My monitor resolution is 1024x768. Switching to 800x600 or even forcing the game to run in 640x480 doesn't solve that, though. I guess you have buttons on your monitor that allow you to center and stretch the display ? Most modern monitors keep the center/size settings for each resolution in memory...

Try using DOSBox to run it. And if you use Windows XP as I think you do, you should try to download D-Fend also, which is a frontend to DOSBox, making it far more simple to use.

When you're saying "latest version of ScummVM", is it 0.9.0 or a daily build ? Also, if you run ScummVM in command-line mode, you should get an output when the software quits that'll tell you why it has quit. This would be quite useful to get help. Also, what is your version of the game (floppy, CD,...

Just put them in the main folder and be sure that they're named correctly (track1.mp3, track2.mp3, ..., track24.mp3). ScummVM should find them then.

anyway, BS1 with cutscenes and mp3-compressed audio comes to about 364 mbyte, anyone today should be able to live with that HD usage Yes, the size is not an issue. It was juste by curiosity : I wondered why some CLU files could be compressed and others could not. That didn't leap to my mind immedia...

I've just compressed BS1 files usng the compress_sword1 tool. It compressed speech and music files as expected except a small detail : one music file (6M13.WAV) has not been compressed. Is that normal ? Can I remove it safely ? EDIT : I can manually compress the file using oggenc, but I wonder why t...

Depends of the game you're playing. Usually, the load option is quite near the save option.
