A simple question... with an equally simple answer. ScummVM just "turns me on". I love the concept of it (ancient scripts actually running with newer resources, as opposed to DOSBox which has to simulate an entire OS), I love the "feeling" of it and the interface, and then of cou...

Let's not exaggerate. The speed I refer to is not REALLY teleportation. It's just really quick, but not instant. My reason for wanting a throttle adjustability function is because many games contain large locations that require long and tedious walks from place to place. So either you add an ability...

Cool. Is it possible to add a throttler modifier in future versions?

Your statement does indeed make sense. However, I compared the speed to BOTH an old 386 (which really isn't too fast for KQ6) and to the DOSBox simulation, which I assume is reasonable as well.

Speed in SCI games

How come that when the walking speed is set to maximum inside any SCI game, the character - while indeed walking faster - doesn't walk nearly as fast as it has back in the old days? If I remember correctly, when the speed was at maximum, the character would cross the room in almost a flash, but in S...

Thanks for your quick reply. What about the subtitles + speech fix I mentioned? Is there anything in plan for that? Oh, and by the way - Wikipedia says about SCI2: "Often called SCI32 (along with SCI3), SCI2 (2.xxx.xxx) runs in 32-bit mode by using the DOS/4GW extender....." Doesn't that m...

Future plans

Hi. Congratulations to all of you behind SCUMMVM for your latest fantastic release, supporting SCI games. I was more than incredibly happy when I heard the news and downloaded my copy. However, I'm dying to know what's coming next. Is there an estimated release date for a version supporting SCI 2 an...

Also Freddy Pharkas and Police Quest 4 suffer from this. I think also the later SCI game KQ7 suffered from this, but I'm not sure. For some strange reason, LSL7 didn't suffer from this, despite it being a late SCI game. Why the hell haven't they set a uniformity standard for this back in the day? It...

Not entirely true.

DOSbox doesn't match ScummVM in terms of performance.

As long as it's not illegal to grab the subs and have ScummVM include them into the game (like in SQ4 and GK2) then we're all good...

Oh, boy. Once it's done, it'll be the second coming for me.

Fascinating. Really. Well, I hope it will happen eventually. Don't forget only a few of Sierra's games had made that mistake (GK, for example, had text and voice enabled, thank God). On the other hand, some later SCI games had no subs at all, like GK2 and Phantasmagoria, though GK2 has fan made subs...

Oh, well... I've waited six years. I can wait a few more. As long as it's on the menu and not forgotten. ScummVM is almost like magic to me. Even the games which are most compatible with DosBox look so much better in ScummVM I find it incredible. I've always admired this project back in the days it ...

Hey, don't get offended. I may have overreacted with enthusiasm (forget "may". I have), but it was purely out of excitement. I just simply can't believe SCI is finally being integrated into ScummVM. But thanks a million for your reply. I realize that speech+subs is way too early right now,...

Why isn't it planned? Were you referring to the save/load screens or to the speech+subtitles option?

I find the benefit in supporting speech+subs to be invaluable to many users. How much work would it take to support speech+subs for each game?
