...like virtualization, Wine, or new binaries (like ResidualVM). Things that don't have the added resource hit emulation does. It can make a difference. For example, one computer I have is a G4 PowerBook. Using DOSBox, the 13-year-old 2D graphic adventure game The Case of the Rose Tattoo is too slow...

Same result from the end users point of view. Except that with emulation, the hit on system resources is a bit higher. The more recent the system being emulated, the bigger the hit. In other words, emulating an Apple II makes hardly any impact on performance. Emulating a 700 MHz Pentium processor i...

Yeah, but that means adding another interface element, and one that 'spoils' the intent of the designers. Of course, choice is a fine thing. It could all be academic if it isn't possible. And I suppose there's also the question of how far implementing the game might stray into modifying it. And a di...

I'd say no to mouse support it's not how the game was designed to be played... Thank you. I sort of wanted to say that myself more clearly than I did. As a general, personal, preference I'd like ResidualVM to stick close to it's ScummVM roots and just make the game playable on many platforms rather...

well, obviously, it IS possible, since this guy managed to do it, record it and put it on youtube I wasn't aware of this video. In the past some have claimed it was possible but always it was about someone else no one could ever pin a name on. It's interesting that in the comments the guy basically...

I like the default controls, too, but it would also be nice to assign different keys (like for laptops or anyone who just feels like they'd like to change the key bindings). But mouse control? I don't know. Since the game was designed with the concept no mouse firmly in mind, it seems to be that wou...

No, no. The cut dialog was cut . Your bug theory doesn't hold water: it is not possible to hear the cut dialog if you haven't applied the patch. Believe me. I doubt there's anyone who's played GF more often (outside the playtesters) than I have, and the only reason anyone knows about the cut dialog ...

CMI and BS don't use scalers. You may, of course, have a scaler globally enabled in ScummVM, but that's ignored by the higher-resolution games (640x480) like those and others. That's why you can't see much (any) difference: scaling isn't applied. And, longcat, the HQ scalers do a lot of smoothing. T...

It does make sense. But I think the reason it was cut (along with a short exchange between Manny and Salvador in year one) was because it spells things out (meaning how the ticket scam works) in detail and I suspect that in the end the GF team decided that players were smart enough to figure things ...

Possibly unanswerable question
There are a few pieces of dialog in GF's data that never are used in the game. I'm mostly thinking of the roughly four minutes of conversation between Domino and Manny on the factory island. Assuming the scripting for that dialog tree was only disabled or bypassed or whatever, as opposed to ripped f...
