I was under the vague impression that hardcoded logic was generally a strong detriment to a game's potential inclusion. Was there something in particular that inspired the selection of these games..?

Gee, there was a game based on Bruce Coville's My Teacher Is an Alien? Is it uncommon?

Re: Seek the truth

Obvious question: is this going to be compatible with data extracted from the APK?

Re: ScummVM games whose FM Towns port > the PC port

If the MacVenture games (Deja Vu, Uninvited, Shadowgate and Deja Vu II) ever become supported, we'll probably hear the same comparisons to the NES versions there. I've played a little bit of the remakes on Steam but compared to the Macintosh versions I played back in the eighties those versions jus...

Re: Director Games List

Hello! I've been meaning to post about this for a while. I have a copy of The Joy of Cooking CD-ROM, which is apparently from Simon & Shchuster Interactive and published by CompuWorks, "A GT Interactive Company". Opening JOY.EXE with a hex editor reveals it to be made with Director 6.0...

Re: Bring in all your deliveries!

Might I inquire if this is still a thing we can hope to happen some day? (I can't imagine there's anything I could do to help. Except express my enthusiasm. Which probably doesn't count for much.)

Re: Bring in all your deliveries!

I was kind of hoping this news would be followed by HDB becoming legally available once again in one form or another. Any idea about whether we should expect that to happen? (It was my understanding that it was in Tom Hall's hands.)

A curious choice, Hyperspace Delivery Boy. Did something in particular inspire that? It would be great if it happens to be on its way to being legally available again one way or another.

Wow, it's the thread I started twelve years ago! (Oh, to be young again.) I saw the news on the front page about Star Trek and immediately came looking to see if there was renewed interest in this other seemingly hopeless cause. I wish I had something useful to add. Rumor has it that GoG actually ha...

You may be interested in the "Masterpiece Edition" of MYST available from GOG.com for a couple of dollars; it should run perfectly in Windows 8 (and probably look better, too).

This is not to be confused with realMYST, which plays rather differently.

The solution Mr. Johnson provides to get his old games running under Windows is Executor, a relatively inaccurate Macintosh emulator that has the advantages of not requiring a copyrighted Apple BIOS ROM or indeed any other software from Apple. I've often mused that the best way to port his games pro...

The main binary contains some snd resources that contain the instrument samples. Well, in that case it might indeed not particularly difficult. Someone over here managed to successfully extract the samples from SimCity 2000 for the Macintosh and make a soundfont: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtop...
