Re: Location of INI-file and relative paths for portable use

If there's any particular interest, I can try to build a version that would respect a "marker file" like "is_portable" and if such a file is present, automagically set all paths including the configuration relative to the ScummVM directory for "real" portable use. @a.borque: Would that solve your i...

Location of INI-file and relative paths for portable use

Hello! If I read the documentation correctly ScummVM stores the INI-file somewhere in the users home-directory and needs absolute paths to the game-directories. I don't know how much coding-work it would cost, ot whether it contradicts some ScummVM-design-philosophy, but would it be possible to allo...

Hi there,

having a .zip release sounds like a good idea. I'll see what I can do about this. I doubt that the PortableApps version will be back soon...

EDIT: Check out https://www.scummvm.org/downloads again :)
Thanks a lot! :D

What happened to the portable and ZIP versions for Windows?

Hello! AFAIR there were ZIP-releases without an installer for previous releases of ScummVM. Even longer ago there was also a version for PortableApps. For the latest release I can not find a ZIP version and the version offered by PortableApps ist terribly outdated. Are there technical reasons for th...

When was lucasforums.com closed?

Hello! Okay, I have to admit I did not have too much time for years to take care of any LucasArts related stuff. Right now I had some free time and I noticed that many popular sites seem to have closed down in the past years. For many pages you can find something, but the one I miss most is lucasfor...

Monkey Island Special Editions on iOS - Still playable?

Hello! I bought Monkey Island SE and Monkey Island 2 SE for iOS when they were released. I know Disney retired support in 2014(Why can't they simply admit they didn't earn enough money with it and have to state that it was a difficult decision instead which is hardly believable?) and both apps were ...

Hmm, this sounds impossible or at least very, very expensive...

My understanding was the Ron Gilbert "only" wants a license that grants all artistic freedom to him?!

Petitioning for Ron Gilberts Monkey Island 3

Hello! Doing a quick search shows various petitions asking Disney (or formerly LucasArts) to grant Ron Gilbert a license to do "his" Monkey Island 3. This version could show the ending of the triology as it was originally intended by him and might bring a proper solution for the rather disturbing en...

Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes: Compressed Game-Data-Files?

Hello! Thanks for supporting Lost-files-games. As far as I can remember the setup of "The serrated scalpel" offered two options of installation, one with compressed and one with expanded game-data-files. Unfortunately I am unable to recover all bits from my old 5,25"-FDDs, so I only have one install...

Just a little heads-up, in case people missed it: Hello! That's very good news indeed. Thanks for that link. And Thank You very much to sirlemonhead, his source and all ScummVM-Developers for making this happen! A.Borque Btw: I nearly forgot DOS4GW was an important part of some DOS-based games back...

@sirlemonhead:
Yes, a big "Thank you" from me, too.
Even though there are no news right now it is always good to hear things are still in progress. (This helps to be patient! ;) )

AFAIR there is at least one somewhat more technical thread somewhere which discusses aspects of the intro and changes from there to the game.

I never intended to put pressure on anyone or anything or get on someones nerves as I know this is not a commercial project, I guess reengineering is hard work and I know you all are spending your free time on it. My apologies if it sounded like that. I am happy ScummVM is still alive and activly de...

I am sure it is hard work to implement a new engine and it is difficult or even impossible for a single person in a single summer. But as sirlemonhead stated at the beginning of 2013 (and again mid 2014) there is (very slow) access to the source, so this was, what I was hoping for when suggesting it...
