I recently updated my PAL Wii to the latest level (so it's on Wii System Menu 4.3E and IOS58, AIUI) and I managed to install the Homebrew Channel by following the Homebrew_setup guide on a popular Wii homebrew site, which describes how to make use of the Letterbomb exploit. From there, I've been abl...

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade unreleased steam version?

Hi, I read about this ages ago: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/lucasarts-steam-debut-includes-previously-unreleased-version-of/ I finally got round to getting a Steam account, bought the individual IJatLC (again) game and then compared the Steam data files with the ones I originally had from my W...

Is the adventuresoft.com shop still open for business?

Has anyone been able to submit an order to the store at adventuresoft.com? I've tried several times over the past few years, but it always falls over due to a Java applet error. I've also tried emailing all of the addresses I could find on the site, and never once had a reply. So, has anyone ever ma...

Ahh, that's a shame. If there had been enough in place to pull it into a complete playable project, they might even have been able to sell it via digital distribution and recouped some of their initial outlay. don't have the source for the graphics any more Sounds a bit odd, though. If I spent a for...

Simon the Sorcerer III (early 2D development)

After reading the Simon the Sorcerer 3D in 2D topic, I was set to thinking ... I recently read a retrospective on Simon the Sorcerer in a bookazine compilation of GamesTM retro articles which includes snippets from an interview with Simon Woodroffe, who talks about how following the release of the f...

Just to add that I've experienced the same slowdown on the HTC Magic - with both Simon the Sorcerer I and II. I guess when it graduates to being an official port, we can raise a bug if the symptoms persist. Also not sure if I've figured out how to right click, as there's no camera button on the HTC ...

Hmm ... just had a look and can't find an equivalent for Linux, and Joy2Key won't work under WINE, apparently.

I run Linux, so that won't work for me. I'll look for a similar alternative, if ScummVM can't be configured like this, but mapping buttons to functions just seems like a feature I thought ScummVM would support. MAME and MESS do it, for instance - they use .ctrlr files to allow you to map any buttons...

StS II: Use hotkey with joypad?

Hi,

In Simon the Sorcerer II, you can press F10 to see all the characters and objects you can interact with. I'm playing the game using a joypad, not near the keyboard. Is there a way I can map the F10 key (or the hotkeys in other games) to one of my joypad's unused buttons?

The Simon The Sorcerer PC CD Talkie version had the subtitles removed - the floppy disk version, without speech, had them originally. Perhaps the CD 32 version also had them disabled ...

I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream postchapter cutscenes cut

Hi, I'm running the Debian Lenny AMD64 packaged version of ScummVM, which is at 0.11.1. I'm playing through IHNMAIMS, but at the end of each character's story, the cut-scenes showing the character back in a cage with an AM voiceover appear to be being cut short. I know how the AM speeches should end...

Both AdventureSoft and Idigicon continue to sell the two CD version of The Feeble Files. The Idigicon version is supplied in a modern DVD style case, whereas the former, I think, is still supplied in the original, bigger, cardboard box packaging.

Congratulations, guys. There's many games out there which could probably be given a new lease of life like this, but each one requires someone to put in all that time and effort to tirelessly track everyone down and then sort out and co-ordinate all the legal stuff - a practical impossibility in man...

I've updated the Wikipedia article with scans of the Punchcode Tape Messages as Harlan Ellison originally intended. It appears many publications, particularly pre-1991 suffered from publishers not understanding that the dots actually represented a message, and mistakenly replaced them with random do...
