Re: You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike

Is "frotz" a different engine or just the name of an interpreter/program? And will it be (is it?) supported too? Frotz is an interpreter for Infocom's Z-Machine. The name comes from one of the spells in the Enchanter series. It wasn't the first one to appear after the demise of Infocom (that would ...

Re: Linux: Soundfonts default to AdLib emulation

I've done that--selecting FluidSynth as the MIDI device and pointing it to the SoundFont. The error I mentioned seems to suggest a configuration problem with FluidSynth itself, so I'll try asking the team there. Just thought someone here may have had the same issue so I decided to ask here first. A...

Re: Linux: Soundfonts default to AdLib emulation

Longtime user of ScummVM on Windows here who is contemplating a switch to Linux. As the subject field indicates, I'm trying to configure a SoundFont to improve music quality over my computer's integrated audio, but SCUMMVM defaults to the default AdLib emulation even when I have FluidSynth installe...

Re: More Games that Run On SCUMMVM and HELP?

I believe most interpreters just ignore them these days (unless some kind of strict mode is on). The default for Frotz is to report the first occurrence of an error. That's how I know they sometimes happen in Infocom's games as well, though as Zarf pointed out it's pretty rare indeed. The easily re...

Re: Monkey Island 2: Le Chuck's Revenge

From what I can see... The graphics for Monkey Island 2 are 320x200 pixels. Sounds (sound effects or music) can exist in several different versions for either PC Speaker, AdLib or Roland MT-32. I believe there is Roland MT-32 versions of all the music, but some of the sound effects exist only as AdL...

Re: More Games that Run On SCUMMVM and HELP?

Using SCUMMVM to play it works well enough- you get the error message "> @get_child called with object 0 (PC = 953f) (will ignore further occurrences)" Short version: Technically, there is a bug in the game itself. (From what I remember, that game was always a bit buggy, alas.) I don't know if the ...

Re: Cruise for a Corpse - Italian 256 Request code protection.. english version NOT.

very strange because the same VGA/256 version of English not request this code but it's currently skipped. I'm more surprised that the copy protection is skipped than that it's not. Mine certainly asks for the copy protection code. Both the English 256-color version and the German 16-color version ...

Re: displaying audio files as they play?

Why do you need it? It is pretty straightforward to do, but all the sounds are sit in a monster.sou file anyway, so the max you can get is the sound id. In The Curse of Monkey Island the tracks do seem to have names (see dimuse_tables.cpp), though that's pretty much where my knowledge of Digital iM...

Re: FM Towns no Japanese version?

My question is; are there any Japanese releases or is there are a way to change English to Japanese? IF this was not legal, then I apologise for asking. The only one I have is Loom, and I don't speak Japanese, but that one seems to include both English and Japanese versions in the loomeng and loomk...

Re: LucasArts games (ALL) erroring out

Yes, the other message I received is: WARNING: no voice is available for language: es! Sorry, I have no idea. That message seems to be from some automatic text-to-speech feature that I can't even use because it appears to be only for Windows. I would have thought that would simply disable the featu...

Re: LucasArts games (ALL) erroring out

Hi! The same happened to me. What does it mean? How can I solve that? (OBJETS/VS1.HLZ not found) As far as I can tell, the "OBJETS/VS1.HLZ" message is - or was, since it seems to be gone from the current development version? - just for debugging, so whatever problem you're seeing is almost certainl...

Re: ScummVM & GOG relationship

So after 1,5 years, they haven't updated that information, which is a real bummer for all parties - especially for those who might end up buying the game assuming it can be run with DOSBox. At least in the past, GOG's ScummVM games were distributed without the original executable, leaving ScummVM a...

Re: Removed games? (detection engine and other reasons)

Can someone verify on the reasons they got removed and if there are plans for those to come back sooner or later? Thanks. The ScummVM wiki for the Igor engine calls it "Incomplete, development stalled. The existing code just allows to play the game demo." The page for the M4 engine is less clear, b...

Re: LucasArts games (ALL) erroring out

I'm recompiling a fresh build, lets hope it's one of those strange "didn't use gmake clean" issues... If that doesn't help, you could take a look at the configuration file and see if you can find anything wrong with it. The README files should provide information about where to find it, depending o...
