I haven't tried ScummVM in Vista yet...

Looks like the most feasible solution with the current version of SDL would be to bring back the OpenGL renderer...

OpenGL support on Windows would provide vsync, double/triple buffering support, and hardware acceleration.

I think to play games using Scummvm without tearing, all you need is the correct refresh rates. Meaning the refresh rate they were meant to be played at. You need to configure the right resolution. Not only. The video card also needs to know when to swap the front and back buffer. Otherwise, you wo...

The devs of ScummVM do not seem very interested in adding vsync support to this program. We are interested, but noone wants to work on this. Plus, it's a feature more targeted for SDL, rather than ScummVM itself (i.e. it's best to tell all this to the SDL people). If you do want to add vsync suppor...

well, lucas arts games didn't tear in on my ardware od any hardware I saw. Ween didn't tear in the scrolling part of the intro. etc... If there's a way to turn on vsync on the Windows port, I want to know it. Other ports NOT SDL-BASED look just GREAT with vsync on! (GAME CUBE). With directX as a ba...

The continued lack of vsync support in ScummVM is an annoying issue. I really can't think of any other decent emulator or game that does not support it or can't have it forced. Unfortunately, SDL uses either GDI (which is ancient and sucks) or an ancient version of directdraw. There really aren't an...

The dos version is superior to the Windows 3.1 version (b/w cursors and title bar on top of screen). As mentioned, the Dos version supports both VESA (640x480) and VGA (320x200). Under dosbox, there are advantages/disadvantages to each mode. VESA has nicer cursors, nicer menu/status at top of screen...

For some strange reason, ScummVM does not appear to support vsync on the Windows build. Since it does not use Direct3D or OpenGL for rendering, vsync cannot be forced on. In previous threads, the devs seem to blame SDL for this limitation... but every other emulator or game of note supports vsync......

Well, to some extent, it already does enhance the games: 2xsai and other graphics filters. Extensive midi playback options. Ability to use better versions of games (FM Towns version of Zak Mckracken without owning an FM Towns machine). Scrolling would be improved by supporting vsync; this will hopef...

Yeah, I know, I did a search and found two relevant threads. One from a year ago that got no replies and the one you linked. As you can see, I even made a post in the thread you linked several days ago. I waited for any update or reply. However, it is in that Other Ports section, which very few peop...

Vsync Support

I've tried a few games (Broken Sword, Dig, Full Throttle, COMI, the 2 indy games, etc.) in ScummVM and they all display visual tearing ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Page_tearing ). It's easily noticable with any scrolling or animation. Is there a way to turn on vsync within ScummVM to eliminate the...

A vsync option would be nice... ScummVM is almost perfect, but it does show tearing artifacts because there does not seem to be native vsync support.

Just use dosbox for GK games. It works great for GK1. I have not tested GK2 yet.

Same thing happens on the Windows port, which also appears to use SDL. Tearing is present on all games I've tried. It's more noticable in certain games than others based on the type of animation used. But nevertheless, vsync is not respected by ScummVM. Of course, I remember that some of the origina...
