Walking speed in SCUMM games

Hi. Sorry if this has come up before (I searched and haven't found anything), but is there a way to increase the walk speed in games? It specifically feels too slow in SoMI (guess this is what happens when you go back to it after playing newer games for 15 years). I did try the debug fast mode, but ...

As a matter of fact, I do: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/645489/scummvm_simon_talkie.exe Put that in your ScummVM folder and run it. Add the talkie version of Simon 1 if you haven't already. Press "t" in-game to switch text on or off. Note that the subtitles for Calypso's note don't work. Every...

Just a small heads up: When I put the modified ScummVM exe in a folder with ScummVM 1.2.1 and tried to run it, I got the following error: "Couldn't load font 'helvb12.bdf'!" I downloaded the file myself from here: http://sysinf0.klabs.be/usr/lib/fonts/helvB12.bdf?dist=;arch= (the 3.0.3-1 v...

Well, I finally managed to get it to compile... and it is with great pleasure that I announce that it works!

If anyone wants the executable I can upload it somewhere.

Again, thanks a lot, eriktorbjorn.

Wow, thanks a lot for this! You're really going above and beyond, here. I'll report my findings once I'm able to actually compile the darn thing.

Well, I just took a look at the source code and realized that I have absolutely no idea what I'd need to change to enable subtitles. Could anyone who's ever coded anything in their life help me out?

Huh. So, I tried 0.5.0... It does run the game, but I don't even see any option to change the behavior of the subtitles. Which seem to be disabled by default.

No word on how do to do this in current versions? I assume it's possible, since the iPhone version of ScummVM that runs Simon does it.

So, sorry to resurrect this relatively old thread, but is there any word on this? If I buy the iPhone version of Simon 1 and extract the game files from it, can I get ScummVM to play speech and display subtitles at the same time? On a related note, is there a way to force the current version of Scum...

Hey, thanks for replying. I checked the thread back in the day but either didn't notice the replies or... I don't know what. Anyway, Mok, if you could whip up that crude player, that would be great. For two main reasons: I can't even pass a single level of that game now, since it's so counterintuiti...

Sound Images Generation 2; a selfish request

I'm a horrible person, hence this is not related to any LucasArts or ScummVM supported game. What this is related to is Bram Stoker's Dracula, a DOS FPS from 1993. I want to extract the music from the game. Sadly, no available programs that extract music from old games seem to be able to do this. I ...

You'll agree it's better than nothing. And, while I'm strictly a Windows user so I don't know how plausible this is, there are Windows emulators on Mac and Linux that could be utilized to convert the cutscenes.

What I always wondered about it: Why not get the individual users to reencode the cutscenes themselves? They do it with RAD's tools, and everybody's happy. A little tutorial, a link to XviD, maybe something like Q+E to help automate the process... voila.
