One thing I love about ScummVM is the way they're always adding games that, years ago, would have got you shouted down on this very forum as being 'outside the scope of ScummVM's vision'. Hell, I remember when they said AGI games would never bee supported! Eye of the Beholder 1 and 2 are awesome. Ke...

Maniac Mansion NES '2 kids instead of 3' works on ScummVM

Some time ago I discovered, quite by accident, a glitch nobody had apparently noticed before: a way to start Maniac Mansion on the NES with two kids instead of three. This can even be done (and is in fact easier to do, as the mouse moves faster than a d-pad) when using the NES version on ScummVM. Th...

I hate that stupid code wheel!

Dug out my copy of 'Cruise for a Corpse'. Never really played it when I got it as a kid, but figured I'd give it a go. But it's got one of the most annoying copy protections I've ever seen! How does one read the code wheel properly? I turn it to the combination as specified on the screen but the sym...

Well, once something's been released it's hard to get rid of, but the group that made the Maniac Mansion remake - LucasFan Games I recall - were threatened with legal action over it.

Be careful LucasArts don't crack the sads and shut you down like they did with the other guys.

Despite some nice graphic tricks (I really like LeChuck's ghostly glow), and how long I've waited for a talkie version of TSoMI, I can't help but be a little disappointed with this port. The animation looks frankly terrible - it's easy to accept in the original version but given today's capabilities...

I'm reasonably certain it did. Ctrl-C always worked for me on my old V1 copy.

I was thinking, do you suppose that these games being readily available on Steam will mean that original copies sold in places like ebay will go up or down in price?

It's reasonably easy to extract the necessary file from the exe with a hex editor, at least with The Last Crusade. Then you can play it with ScummVM. Am I allowed to say that?

The only recommendation you'll get around here is 'keep searching ebay and other auction sites'. You might get lucky and find a copy in a secondhand games store, but that's about it, since they're not being actively produced any more.
