Re: DOTT in 2.1.0 SDL Disabled system call error

I am using the standard settings for audio, all defaults, and no midi. For the text/speech options, subtitles is enabled, but speech disabled. I believe I also removed the speech files some time ago to save memory. However, music and sound are working fine.

Hope that helps

Re: DOTT in 2.1.0 SDL Disabled system call error

You were asking the general question whether someone can run DOTT on Android Pie. Here is my answer, even though it is a slightly different version of ScummVM than the one you are using. :) Yes, DOTT runs fine for me on Android Pie (Device: Google Pixel 2, Android 9 with 2019-04-15 patch level). Ver...

Bonjour Stephan, That is interesting! Just did a little check with the German version of Monkey Island 2 I have. With default GUI language (English) it starts fine. With GUI language switched to German, it starts fine, too. With GUI language switched to French, ScummVM crashes immediately after doub...

Hi Stephan, thanks for checking. It seems that with the 2.0.0 version the versions in the beta tester and regular mode are the same. Sorry for the trouble! :( But at least in the future you will get newer versions quicker this way, and one may work with the Lucasarts games on your device. :) Maybe y...

There is also a beta version on the Play Store. If you scroll down on the app page, you can click to join the beta program (if I remember right). Could you try that one please? I am running the latest beta from the Play Store on stock Android 8.1 and all Lucasarts games are running fine. I have the ...

Update: On Google Pixel (32GB model) with Android 7.1.2, June Patch level, access to the file system seems to be working well, too. I have started a few scumm games and all seemed to be working well.

Thanks for releasing this new beta. I have downloaded it via the Play Store beta program and was able to complete a game with it: Full Throttle, Version B/English. That game crashed on the recent SDL builds, while it ran fine on much older builds. But probably that is not the feedback you were expec...

Google seems to have changed the API for file system access recently and hopefully, they have not done that again on Android O, looks the same on my 5X. Try setting the following path in the scummvm.ini file: browser_lastpath=/sdcard Then run Scummvm again and try "add game". That works on my Nexus ...

To move that button, try the following: During startup of ScummVM, hit the button "Change Device Configuration". Then select the menu item "On-Screen keyboard" -> "Customize on-screen keyboard layout". Now you can drag the button to a position you like and confirm the position with the device's back...

In my configuration, ScummVM shows the following for "Specify Directory": /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.scummvm.scummvm/files Maybe that will work when you try it, but I doubt so. Seems to be a different problem, but I don't have an idea what it might be. It is surprising how different ScummV...

Weird, indeed! :) I had a look into the logcat output you provided. Seems ScummVM dies the moment it tries to access the directory /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.scummvm.scummvm/files during startup, which looks correct to me. Can you please go into the devices system preferences, apps, open S...

Thanks for the detailed description. This is interesting, as the workaround with setting browser_lastpath=/sdcard indeed works on a Nexus 5X. It has no SD card and it runs on Android 7. The directory name "/sdcard" is probably there for historic or compatibility reasons, it exists and points to the ...

First of all: Trying to emphasize your opinion by words like "terrible choice", "broken as hell", and "needs fixing asap" does not help. Remember this is not a commercial project and people are developing it for fun and your rude behaviour may lead to some developers stopping their activities! The n...

Workaround for Android N

This seems indeed to be related to Android N and how access to the file system is handled. Recently upgraded my Nexus N to Android N, too. Accessing files in the internal memory (AKA "internal emulated SD-CARD") is fine, just the ScummVM launcher file browser does not get the permissions to display ...
