Virus?

McAfee claims that the latest ScummVM download has a virus or malware. This is a false positive, right? (Running a full scan on my computer anyway.)

Got a New Logitech Subwoofer/Speaker System; Isn't Running on ScummVM

I just bought a Z313 subwoofer/speaker system made by Logitech to replace my old speakers. However, I am not getting any sound at all on ScummVM with this system. I checked with Windows and DOSBox and it works there. How can I make it work with ScummVM?

Re: Links on Sierra Help to Patches No Longer Work; Looking for General MIDI Utiliity Patch

Big mistake on my part and I'm back where I started. I tried to extract the compressed GENMIDI file from sierra.voyd.net and was told by WinZip that it contains no files. don't know why it is a "hollow" file, but I'm not sure what to do at this point. Is there a way to search for archive.com to see ...

Re: Links on Sierra Help to Patches No Longer Work; Looking for General MIDI Utiliity Patch

Thanks, but what I need is Sierra's aftermarket General MIDI patch. The page you linked to is the wrong page for it. This is the original Sierra Help page to show you what I need: http://www.sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/Patches-Updates-Misc/UpdatedSoundCardDrivers.html. You would want to go down ...

Links on Sierra Help to Patches No Longer Work; Looking for General MIDI Utiliity Patch

It seems all the patches on the Sierra Help website have been taken down for some reason (at least none of the links on that website are working). I want to play Space Quest IV floppy on ScummVM, but it says I need Sierra's aftermarket General MIDI patch to run General MIDI on that game. Is there ...

Re: Now you can see subtitles in Broken Sword 1 cutscenes

It's now 2025. Is this package still available and does it function with ScummVM 2.9.1?

BS: DC?

Is the Director's Cut of Broken Sword 1 compatible with ScummVM? I can't find any record of this on the website.

Thanks.

Possibly, but I was also concerned that the reviewer may have simply been relying on second hand information, even internet rumor. (For the record, this was not a formal published review; it was just someone posting their thoughts on a forum.)

Re: Is the AGD QfG2 VGA remake compatible with ScummVM?

A fan review from two years ago claimed that this game version tends to crash a lot on ScummVM. Was that correct and is it still true? I'm currently playing other games but might like to try this on ScummVM at some point.

Re: Is There Any Way to Control the Speed for the Closing Cutscene in QfG2?

I'm having a new problem. I am now playing the game on my laptop, rather than my desktop. I have ScummVM version 2.9.1 and am using Windows 11 which was upgraded from Windows 10. On this computer, when I hit Alt-F4, it simply exits ScummVM without asking if I want to quit. Also Ctrl-F5 does nothing ...

Re: Crime-solving adventure games?

If you're up all text, you might consider Infocom's four detective mysteries: Deadline, The Witness, Suspect, and Moonmist. The first two are almost identical in gameplay nature, the third differs a bit, and the fourth differs considerable (in particular, since it has four possible paths, chosen by ...

Re: Sound and Music in QFG2

Unfortunately, while what you describe (for example, the inn in the evening) is part of the game, it does not address the issue I am facing. Take the inn music, which seems to be the biggest issue: when I first begin a new game, the (standard daytime) inn music plays at full volume. However ...

Sound and Music in QFG2

In Quest for Glory 2 (EGA version), I've been having an issue with audio. Every time I've played with ScummVM, the music for certain rooms (e.g. the Shapeir inn, the magic shop, the enchantress, the astrologer, etc.) starts the game at full volume, but soon becomes very quiet, requiring me to turn ...
