For an emulator, this would be easy. However, since ScummVM is actual engine reimplementations (pure native code), we're left with normal game saves, pretty much (manually writing specific data to disk). And since this would be triggered at any time, the engines would need to be in a saveable state...

The problem is implementing "save at any time". Because that's what you'd have to do when you may have to quit (which is effectively what is happening) at any time (when the Home button is pressed, when there's an incoming call, etc.). I am interested, from an engineering point of view, w...

That depends on the new terms :). But at the very least, it'll mean I can commit an XCode project that anyone can use to build ScummVM using the official SDK (and registered iPhone developers can deploy to their phones). As for an official AppStore version: there's still issues remaining preventing...

I haven't investigated but I am pretty sure that the applicationWillTerminate delegate notification will do the whole "save when you press the Home button" stuff. It would be a bit ridiculous for Apple NOT to let an application clean up after itself when quitting, and very backwards. Havin...

Apple drops iPhone NDA; now you can publish GPL programs on the AppStore without any problems.

Now the only outstanding problem to publishing on the AppStore is your concern that executing interpreted code is a bad thing which, from my understanding of the EULA, is a non problem.

Woo!

Sadly, jailbreaking isn't an option for everyone. Loading apps through Cydia or Installer.app bypasses any semblance of security on the iPhone, and those of us with corporate email and similar connections on our iPhone aren't going to jailbreak it. I have been reading this thread with interest, and ...

Yes, but $99 dollars is hardly anything. I paid much more than that for the Sony Playstation Yaroze system. I'm sorry, I wasn't implying that it wasn't worthwhile (and I'm sure a lot of people will make some great homebrew for the 360), I was just including all the information for interested partie...

With the imminent release of the XNA Express tools, it will be completely possible to develop a release of ScummVM for the Xbox 360. Regrettably (at least for now), you will need to pay $99 for the privilege of playing homebrew on your 360, although I believe this is only a temporary measure. I was ...
