Re: Maniac Mansion and what is the computer in ed's room in DOTT?

8-bit and 16-bit computers were connected to small TVs more often than real computer displays, so having any TV style knobs is not unusual and on the other hand it tells absolutely nothing about the computer itself. Anyway, the computer is obviously a Commodore 64. The shape of that thing as well as...

Re: Thimbleweed Park free on Epic Games from 21st February

In other forums it has been brought up that most Epic games can be made DRM-free (as in run without laucher) by creating a shortcut and adding -EpicPortal to the target path of a shortcut. Which games actually work with this method, I can't tell.

Re: Which games would you like to be supported on the future?

Fairy Tale About Father Frost, Ivan and Nastya There are some serious issues with running this game on modern machines. I personally was lucky enough to encounter only a couple of crashes that were fixed by running the game in proper compatibility mode. Some other people have had bigger issues whic...

Re: Whatever happened to the in-progress AGS engine?

Indeed it's a bummer, if that has been dropped. I just played a bunch of AGS games, and at least one of them had unexpected performance issues with Windows 10. Playing it on an older computer with less CPU power and Windows 7 was surprisingly smoother, but it would have been so much simpler to just ...

Re: Infrastructure updates

Looks good, but what is missing is a link to the main ScummVM site.
Not that it's too difficult to manually change the URL, but the old forum design had that link up there, and at least I used it sometimes.

This would surely benefit from ScummVM.

My localized copy is so badly done and buggy that it was impossible to finish the game - I had to download a warez version in another language to be able to finish the game! :?

There are enough of those that are not 18+, but I didn't know that ScummVM had a "no erotic content" policy, because the Larry games for example are also supported. Leisure Suit Larry is a comedy, so it really doesn't count. But otherwise, I didn't know about such policy either, and it's really a d...

I think I wrote here before that I would prefer to have PNG option too, and some way to define a filename format for screenshots. I think somebody suggested sending a feature request. I never actually did it, as I thought it's so low priority that it will never be implemented. But if there actually ...

I don't think they had any real guidelines for naming them. Even those screenshots show how they use different naming conventions for the same game, like "Space Quest V" and "Space Quest 5". The same goes for "Space Quest I: The Sarien Encounter". Adding the number to the title makes sense as it sep...

But I also would rather have the original game files on GOG, personally. Unmolested. They've already ruined the Gobliiins games this way. There's no way to play the GOG games in DOSBox as there are no game executables besides ScummVM. I think you should blame DotEmu, not GOG, for any issues with Go...

More than 2500 AGS games have been released, to give a lowball number (the AGS Games database, far from complete, has somewhere around 2300); plus many others that have been circulated privately, e.g. betas that were sent out to testers for games that were never officially finished. Many exist in s...

ScummVM: + autodetects games + improved save features + screenshot function (not perfect, but very usable) + may require less CPU power than other solutions, like DOSBox + GUI is integral part of the program - games are not in their original state, but rather reprogrammed, which on one hand may fix ...

Great update! Changing the screenshot format from bmp to png makes life much easier. But in the future versions, would it possible to either tell ScummVM how to name the screenshots, or at least have them automatically named after the engine that is being used? Now all screenshots are named scummvm+...

I don't know for sure, but I believe RPG engines will be the bigger picture. I am hoping that one day there would be a way to support all those FMV games that are now very tricky to play. As far as other similar projects are concerned, I thought XL engine looked great, but apparently the development...
