Re: Anybody notice games not working with latest update?

VinnieL: What platform are you running ScummVM on? i.e. is this Win32, OSX, Linux, Android or iOS autoupdate ... There shouldn't be daily updates, unless you are on some kind of testing / nightly build?

Re: about Extract/Construct Mohawk command tools

Those two tools were added to scummvm-tools, but are not really intended / ready for end-user usage i.e. compression of resources. They really should have been in scummvm/devtools i.e. developer tools as they were mainly for developers to use in looking at the contents of Mohawk archives and testing...

Re: Is Myst ME the best 2D Myst?

If you wonder about the overlay, compare resources #2034 and #2036 in the CHANNELWOOD.DAT Mohawk archive file of Myst ME.

Re: Is Myst ME the best 2D Myst?

Hmm... I might be wrong here. I'm not sure my notes covered the original Windows 3.1 version of the datafiles... so not sure if something is lurking :)

Re: Is Myst ME the best 2D Myst?

I did the initial work on this for the Mohawk Myst engine. I did a quick check of my notes. Myst ME has no additional slides in it's datafiles compared to the older Windows 3.1 / WIN16 version based on Mohawk. The main changes are the addition of the Help System slides, upgrading of image resources ...

Re: ScummVM running on ESP32 Microchip / Odroid-GO!

Interesting. Always nice to see a new port, though I think quite restricted in terms of which engines will run due to the platform limitations of the ESP-32.

Re: Problem with save files on mobile devices

Thanks... The PC output provides a reference, but it will be necessary to get the output from a failing platform to compare and work out the cause here. This is one of the problems with embedded ports i.e. lack of debug output channels. Not sure about doing this with Vita: https://wiki.scummvm.org/i...

Re: Feature Request - Data compression

Thanks, but a few points: Feature requests should be added to the bug tracker if you want them to be looked at in future at bugs.scummvm.org Suggestion 1, please see https://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/User_Manual/Appendix:_Tools#Compression_Tools Suggestion 2, please see this FAQ entry: https://www....

Re: Problem with save files on mobile devices

Hmm... Try running the game with ./scummvm -d 2 or higher.

The issue looks like it might be from the HE code here... as nowhere else would allow .sg1 in the savegame suffix:

I think I would suspect that this is something to do with the SCUMM engine savegame naming code in this case...

Re: Problem with save files on mobile devices

Hmm I would suspect the issue is either in SaveFileMan when using accented characters or an issue with makeSavefileName i.e.

Re: Problem with save files on mobile devices

Right and that is defined here where it just calls openForSaving from the _saveFileMan (Save File Manager) which I think is a platform specific singleton:

Re: Problem with save files on mobile devices

Hmm, the loadState function is here: https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/blob/master/engines/scumm/saveload.cpp#L320 That should emit a warning if it fails in most cases... Is there one before the error message? I think the only case where it can return false without a warning is when openSaveFileFor...

Hmm... That error message is from the SCUMM engine when loadState function returns not success:

Re: Problem with save files on mobile devices

It would have been helpful to reference the ticket, but I found that here: https://bugs.scummvm.org/ticket/11366 The issue will be finding a developer who has a device to replicate the issue with and is interested to fix this. We are open source and thus you always have the option of looking into th...
