EcoQuest 1 (SCI) on DS?

Post by Daddyof03 »

I have already searched plenty of forums for the answer to this question to no avail so please, don't chew my head off if this has already been answered...

I saw that SCI support has recently been added to the recent ScummVM releases. I understand that EcoQuest has been added as a supported game. I have seen several conflicting DS compatibility charts that do not list it as supported as well as a few (http://www.dsi-homebrew.com/ds-homebrew/scummvm-ds-v120;http://dl.qj.net/nintendo-ds/emulators/ ... 20-ds.html) that state it IS supported.

I dug my old ECOQUEST CD out and confirmed through DOSBOX that the CD is still good and can get it running just fine in Windows 7 w/DOSBOX.

My question is, if EcoQuest and SCI are now supported, HOW do I get the game to run on the DS port of ScummVM? I have tried installing the game on my PC and copying the installed files to my SDcard as well as copying the CD contents AND the installed files onto my SD... Every time it states that no game can be found... (Yes, I know how the directory selector works, and yes I selected every directory I could with anything related to the game could be located)

Any help in this matter would be GREATLY appreciated...
I want my daughter to play this on her DS and I wouldn't mind playing it since I haven't played since my 75MHz, 4MB computer in 95  ... Hahahahahaha

The DS port does not support the SCI engine yet.

Here are the currently supported engines on the DS. http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/index.htm#whichgames

Looks like they've used the general ScummVM readme, which comes with the package, for their info. Also in the package is a readme_ds (surely the obvious one to read for info?):-

ScummVM DS 1.2.0
New game supported: Fascination

I know it supports Fascination because I've tried it. However I don't think it's the type of game to introduce to your daughter.

Thank you both for your responses, and pardon my ignorance. I'm hoping with the merger of FreeSCI and ScummVM to see DS support soon... Hopefully the DS has the hardware to run the engine...
