Now it's a valid sci0 resource file, and there's no need for external view patches.
The fully working demo can be found here: http://hotfile.com/dl/64439791/8c333e5/pq2-dos-ni-demo-en.fixed.zip.html
I believe that because all the views that I had to reconstruct, were originally in the demo (as evident by their number and their compressed size), there should be no copyright issues with my work.

Discworld II demo (CD/Demo/Win/English)
So, I've been asked to upload a Discworld II demo which seems to be unknown until now, and here it is:
http://www.speedyshare.com/files/24791447/DW2.zip
It came on the demo CD in Spanish magazine Micromanía, 3a época, núm. 23 (published around the game's release date).
I've included the whole demo folder, including even the DirectX install which should probably be left out of the pack.
The demo seems to be unsupported in ScummVM 1.2.0. [Edit: It's been already added to SVN: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=3091385&group_id=37116&atid=418820 ]
I haven't been able install or make it run on Windows Vista, but I remember it working back in Windows 95. I think there's some Vista compatibility problem lurking in there.
BTW, I've also got a Discworld 1 demo (English DOS talkie version) which is not listed in the available demos list. I can upload it too if you want. (Oh, and this demo seems to work just fine in ScummVM right now).

Well... I guess the DW1 demo was there after all! Yes, that's the one I have. Maybe it should be added to the demo list on http://www.scummvm.org/demos/ ? (or maybe there's some reason for it to not be there, I just don't know =p)

I just tried to download this demo so I could upload it to the demo hosting.
Oops! This link appears to be broken.
Any chance you could re-upload?
Thanks!
Edit: No need to worry now!

Discworld Mac demo
Well, I've been looking through my old demo CDs, and it seems there's a Discworld Mac demo in one of them, or so the disc cover says.
Unfortunately, Windows Vista doesn't show any Mac files on the CD, so I guess I'll have to go sophisticated to get the demo.
The demo doesn't seem to be currently in http://www.scummvm.org/demos/ , nor in http://demos.robertmegone.com/ , so I guess it's currently unknown?
Can someone confirm if the demo is of any interest or if it's nothing new at all? If you are interested I'll try and extract it so I can upload it.
Maybe Linux can read those files? I'll have to have a go at that.
Cheers!

Yes, you need to use something such as HFVExplorer. See here for more info. If you can, please extract all the files using the option to let the program decide which format to extract it in.

DW Mac demo extracted
OK, here it is.
I used HFVExplorer as you suggested. That HOWTO-Mac_Games is really quite useful.
Followed all the instructions and copied letting the program decide the format. Seemed to work fine.
So here's the result:
http://www.speedyshare.com/files/25235858/discworld_mac_demo_0.zip
Now, there's only something a bit weird there: when HFVExplorer copied the files, a .txt extension was added to all the resource files (behind their original extension). The zip file "discworld_mac_demo_0.zip" contains all files just as HFVExplorer copied them, with the added .txt extension.
But when you check the original disc on HFVExplorer, that weird .txt extension is not there, so I made another zip file taking out the added .txt extension from the resource files:
http://www.speedyshare.com/files/25235859/discworld_mac_demo_1.zip
So there you go. I don't know much about Mac files (first time fiddling with this kind of thing), so I've just given you everything I found. Hope that works.
If something's missing, or we need to re-extract the files in a different way, just tell me and I'll do it.
Oh, BTW, I've tried adding the game with the ScummVM SVN binary (putting all files in one directory), but it's told me it can't find any game there. I guess it's normal, if no one had access to this demo before!
I guess I should post a request to the bug tracker for the demo to be added to ScummVM, right?

Thanks! Its really great to see that people care about these demos as much as me.
It is probably best to create a bug report.
You should link the bug report to your post(http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?p=63179#63179 ) and include
these details as spat out by the console.
{"dw.scn", 0, "ae291aa4ed7f7caacbfb711b6ff2c8bd", 1286264},
{"english.txt", 0, "13865d8ff4170ea6bb024055f793c956", 230790},
{"english.smp", 0, "c595e906cb4bf308d2e80ecf3fd1f4f1", 52519978},

I'd rather suggest adding it as a Feature Request, since it's not technically a bug.
Out of curiousity, I renamed all the files in the archive to remove the .txt extensions, and added a detection entry. However, the engine errors out with a message 'Compression support has been removed'
The early versions of the engine apparently had support for compression, but it was no longer supported by the engine sources we received. I presume that they thought it unnecessary, given the space available on a CD. It's certainly interesting that the Mac demo still has it - nice to have found another stage in the evolution of the Tinsel engine. Since we don't have any source for the compression routine, we'd need someone to try figuring out the compression format from the files, or from disassembling the Macintosh executable.

We have historically asked users to place all detection additions on the bug tracker.

Yeah, that's why I thought of doing it that way (as I did with the DW2 demo). But of course, bug or feature, it's the same to me.

Most likely, I'm guessing that the problem is that the resources are now BE instead of LE and not that the resources are compressed.
