Because I was being sarcastic, of course. Alas, it never translates as well online Razz My copy of the demo was different. When I get a chance to re-upload a bunch of them, I'll upload yours too. In the meantime, I added the md5 of your demo in 8a22c2d65e198e01b91360fe9e2d979c7d5b3c64.

PS - We would be eternally grateful if you could also check the Mac partition of the disc for those demos, since we're looking for them too.

Just checked and indeed there is a Mac portion with demos. I thought the Mac versions came on separate CDs... weird... Oh well... will do...

Reading this discussion triggered me to check the HFS partitions on my discs as well. The first disc I tried gave me an undetected version of Balloon-O-Rama and an undetected demo of Pajama Sam.

The demo can be found here:

http://scummvm.bencastricum.nl/Pajama-Sam-Demo-Mac-Dutch.zip

I tried adding the game myself but my I think I am missing something. To detection_tables.h I added :

code:
{ "balloon", "Ballon-O-Rama", kGenHEMac, UNK_LANG, Common::kPlatformMacintosh, 0 },

This made ScummVM find the game, but not run it. It complained about a unknown version and then exited with a "Bad ID 0000('....') found in index file directory!" error. After adding the MD5 too by adding
code:
{ "e729c3296b2c5092ae1a7cb42bc6bdd1", "balloon", "", "", -1, Common::NL_NLD, Common::kPlatformMacintosh },

it didn't complain at startup, but just exited with the same error. Both are from this game http://www.gamesmeter.nl/game/7120

Am I doing something wrong?

I uploaded a patch to detect Pajama Sam Demo Dutch Mac (just a one liner).

For some reason it still comes up as windows although I specify Common::kPlatformMacintosh and use kGenHEMac. Apart from the filenames the game is the same as the windows one. I didn't bother to look into that further since it seems to be the case for more demos and is probably a generic/intentional issue.
edit : Never mind that, specifying platform unknown in the md5 takes care of that.

The Ballon game seems to mess up after reading the AARY block from the index. Not a clue on why yet.
edit 2 : I decoded the file and took a look. It seems the file is padded with 00s. I uploaded a patch to find, identify and run the game. Played it for about 15 minutes after which I felt silly for playing the game and being so bad in it.

3 new Macintosh HES demos found.

3 new and not yet playable demos from the mac part of the "Freddi Fish en Loebas: Water Werken" CD :

pajama2-demo-mac-nl.zip
puttrace-demo-mac-nl.zip
spyfox-demo-mac-nl.zip

These all exit with Bad ID in indexfile (even when you add the md5). It may be the same issue as I found with the mac Ballon game. Fortunately demos do not fall into forum rule 0 so you more experienced guys can have a look at it.

I also moved the previously mentioned demo to

pajama-demo-mac-nl.zip

How are you extracting these Macintosh versions? as it looks like the data files of all three demos are invalid.

The majority of the later games from Humongous Entertainment offer both Macintosh and Windows versions via multiformat CDs, so might be easier to access the Windows side.

We only offer Windows versions of later games demos from Humongous Entertainment since the data files are identical in Macintosh and Windows versions.

I dump the CD to an iso image, and use ultraiso to access the mac partition. I wouldn't know how to access it directly. What is the recommended way?

There are more demos on this disc, but only these were not recognized.

Even weirder, for some of the demos the mac part also contains the dos files in the same directory. So I extracted spyfox which is one of them and run an MD5 on the data files.

code:

So even if the extraction method is wrong, then it only corrupts the index file. (the windows files work fine) Any ideas? Perhaps someone with a mac could try the binaries to see if the run at all?

Try using HFV Explorer to extract the Macintosh versions directly from the CD.

It's a problem with extraction all right, I redid the demos and checked again. Only the spyfox one is still new, the others were properly detected and run fine.

Hi, new user here. I saw that the demos section didn't include the English language demo of Toonstruck, which I have on CD. I zipped it up, and posted it on speedy share, but apparently I can't link you to it until I have at least three posts under my belt. So... coming soon? Razz

edit:
I guess I could post this much of the url, and you can fill in the rest?

/kp5Tv/ToonstruckDemo.zip

We've been looking for this one for a *long* time! Thanks!

However, I'm not quite sure what the URL should be -- http://speedyshare.com/kp5Tv/ToonstruckDemo.zip doesn't work.

It works if you use the speedy.sh shortcut URL.

I'm glad I could help in some small way with this awesome project!

There is actually another English Toonstruck demo, although it is broken(the demo won't run using the original exe).

SylvainTV was looking at it a while ago. It's supposed to be a very early version.

It's available on Textfiles:
http://cd.textfiles.com/cdaction/cdaction07a/TOONST/

I never added it to the demos page because we never found out why it was broken, I guess for the sake of completeness it might be worth adding to the demo page.

Sorry, I didn't actually test the demo before posting it. But I can now confirm that my demo CD runs in Boxer on my Mac! The install menu acted a little strange, and cycled through the buttons like a slot machine for a while, before finally refusing to setup the video or sound, but I was able to run separate setup programs for video and sound after it installed all the files to the drive.
